The big news in Hollywood today is the impending writer’s strike. There’s an increasing possibility that the WGA is going to strike when the deadline to cut deal with movie and TV networks expires. At first it was thought the chance of a strike was around 50/50 but it’s more like 75/25 right now. What does this mean? It means that some of your favorite shows might go on hiatus pretty soon. While many shows are already written through the end of the season, there are some shows like The Walking Dead that could be badly affected by the strike.
Plus you know, there will be billions of dollars lost and many of us will be clamoring for something to watch. But to tell you the truth, there’s a small part of me that hopes this strike goes through. If anything it might actually encourage people to go outside, take walks, read a book, do something, anything but watch television. Even though my entire job is online, it’s for this similar reason that I kind of wish the internet would go down from time to time. 99% of me would freak out but the other 1% of me would say, “Thank God, now I can actually live my life.”
So yeah, I hope a resolution takes place and the writers can get back to writing. But once again, this little tiny part of me wants to see our regularly scheduled programming take a little break for a while.
