Scorpion: A Nuclear Thanksgiving and Paige’s Mom Shows Up

Scorpion

Thanksgiving, a time to be with family and sit at the table eating a delicious turkey. In this week’s episode of Scorpion, the holiday is about to take a turn for the worst. Why? There’s a nuclear reactor that may or may not cause another Chernobyl that’s why! Oh, and on top of that, Paige’s estranged mother Veronica shows up by posing as a client for Scorpion. Not good.

It was evident from the beginning that Paige loathes her mother with a passion. The liaison has had it with her mother’s con woman ways and didn’t want to take up her case. While Paige refuses to help her mother, Team Scorpion jumped at the chance. Just because Paige is angry at her Mum doesn’t mean that they can’t save millions of lives. Also, no one wants another Chernobyl.

Toby talked with Paige about her mother, and it was heartbreaking to hear about how Veronica messed up in the past. While Paige unloaded on the shrink, the rest of the team worked to get the reactor out of the warehouse. I almost screamed when one of the makeshift columns of movie film canisters collapsed. Thought it was going to be Mushroom Cloud Central for a moment.Good thing Walter quickly stepped in and supported the unstable corner.

Happy and Agent Gallo then used their combined weight and got the reactor onto the first floor of the warehouse safely. I laughed at Toby’s impression of Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy. When he saw Happy lying on top of Agent Gallo, he said the iconic line that Ricky always says to Lucy. When Toby got hit with all those golf balls, I felt sorry for him having to go through that. Then again, if he didn’t cover the connector box with his body, the reactor’s battery would overheat and cause a nuclear meltdown. At least the shrink didn’t have to endure the pain for long as they made it onto the road.

When Agent Gallo used his Homeland badge to commandeer the Super Fun Guy balloon and the churro carts’ cooking oil, I sweat-dropped. Though I understand the whole using the oil to store the liquid metal from the reactor, using the balloon to carry the reactor out to sea, however, was a new one. On the other hand, if you can use balloons to fly a house to a waterfall, I guess it’s okay.

I’m glad that Agent Gallo convinced Paige to let her mother stay for Thanksgiving dinner. It’s going to be an awkward meal nevertheless, so there’s no harm in it right? It would’ve been great to see the liaison’s cooking skills at work, but world-saving matters come first. I’m also intrigued as to how Veronica will help Walter get Paige back and if Agent Gallo will ask Ms. Jones out on a date. Theories, anyone?
