Rukiya Bernard is an actress who is best known for her role as Doc in the series “Van Helsing” shown on Syfy. She’s gained a large following of fans thanks to her dynamic acting style. She’s also appeared in several notable films including “Stuck” in 2007, “The Day the Earth Stood Still” in 2008, and in “The Cabin in the Woods” in 2012. 2. Rukiya is athletic
Rukiya Bernard has been athletic since she was just a young child. Her parents saw to it that she was involved in sports and the arts. She played basketball and ran in track events while in school. She also took Karate lessons. She kept physically fit by taking part in these activities throughout her youth.
3. She’s a dancer and musician
In addition to being an avid sports participant, Rukiya’s parents also made sure that she was exposed to the arts from an early age. She studied classical ballet and is a dancer. She also took piano lessons. Rikiya was given a great start by caring parents who ensured that she had ample exposure to the arts, giving her a foundation in music and dance.

After graduating from high school, Rukiya applied for admission to the theatre program at Ryerson University. She was accepted into the school. Bernard is an extremely creative and artistic individual. On top of being a dancer, musician, and actress, she has another profession she’s passionate about. She’s also an interior designer. In fact, she was even featured on “The Stagers,” which is an HGTV reality television show. She appeared on the series for two seasons, showing the world her skill in interior design.

Rukiya Bernard has a lot of different directions that she could take her career. 7. Rukiya was a hip-hop dancer
Although she’s trained in classical ballet dance, Rukiya is proficient in other forms of art. She joined forces with a hip hop troupe for a short period of time and performed with the group. The name of the troupe is the Phem Phat Dancers. This experience served to expand the scope of her resume even further. She’s still young and she’s done a lot of different things showing the world that she’s extremely versatile. Rukiya trained in ballet and jazz dancing at Opera Atelier.
8. She was in sales prior to fame
Before Rukiya became a well-known celebrity personality, she helped her family out at their African art store. The business is involved in retail and wholesale sale of African and Asian arts, accessories and crafts. Prior to becoming famous, Rukiya worked in the store and helped out her family’s business, so you can add sales experience to her ever-growing and impressive resume.
9. She married in secret
Rukiya has a family of her own. She married her husband PJ Prinsloo. He is a professional music teacher. Neither Rukiya nor PJ shared the details of their marriage. Although it’s a matter of public knowledge the couple has maintained strict privacy about their relationship and their marriage and they’ve decided not to go public with any of the details. What we do know is that the couple dated in secrecy before making the decision to tie the knot. They have two children together, a son and a daughter. Rukiya did share the fact that one of her goals is to be the kind of mother that her kids can look up to. She takes being a mom very seriously and we’re assuming that the reason she doesn’t share details about her husband or kids publicly is for their anonymity and protection from media intrusion into their lives. This is admirable and we wish her good fortune in keeping her family’s affairs private and away from prying eyes.
10. Her Rotten Tomatoes rating are a mixed bag
Whether fans agree with the ratings or disagree, Rotten Tomatoes has made public viewer opinions about her most prolific works in film. The highest-rated film of her career, according to the site, is “The Cabin in the Woods” from 2012. Critics gave her a 91% approval rating for her performance in the film. The lowest rating came in at a zero percent approval rate for the 2016 film “The Unspoken.” While this is disappointing, there is more. “Wonder” received an 85 percent approval rating, which is well above average. Her ratings for “Stuck” are still good at 73 percent. “The Day the Earth Stood Still” with Keanu Reeves, however, didn’t fare as well, coming in with a 21 percent approval rating.
