Let’s not even get into the fact that there was a 2014 teen film of the same name and pseudo plot. I’m talking about the Scott Baio and Willie Aames starred film Zapped that came out in 1982. Would you like a quick refresher in case you haven’t seen it? Barney Springboro (Scott Baio) is a high school science nerd at Emerson High in Los Angeles who obtains telekinetic powers after a lab accident. Along with his best friend Peyton Nichols (Willie Aames), a wealthy playboy with a dirty mind, Barney uses his new powers to take revenge upon bullies, cheat at baseball, and strip girls, particularly the beautiful but snobby and mean girl Jane Mitchell (Heather Thomas). Want the formula for an excellent 80s movie? Here it is. Cheesy lines and humor. Nudity. mazing soundtrack. Nudity. Cursing. Nudity. Lots more nudity and then a little bit of gratuitous nudity. In all seriousness though, if you haven’t seen Zapped then you really need to. While I can’t exactly say I like Scott Baio at the moment, I don’t think there’s a soul on earth who didn’t like him in the 80s. I think that the trailer might be as good as the movie itself. Man I really miss Heather Thomas.
