Puma Robinson, whose real name is Paul Robinson, has shown that he does not let friendship come between him and his business. When Kills caused a fight to explode between Super Dope Q and Mike, he stamped his authority and yelled that she was fired. However, this newfound authority has only come recently after mending his relationship with Emanuel with whom they are now equal business partners. Puma has been in the reality television show since it began though he took a break after the fourth season. He is now back, which has resulted in fans getting curious about the artist. Among the many facts you probably do not know about Puma, here are ten.
1. Being on “Marriage Boot Camp” helped his marriage
Some claim their marriages are made in heaven, but even then, there has to be conflict in every relationship. Sometimes, that can turn into the biggest obstacle of moving on with your partner unless you both take action to repair your marriage. For Puma, the lack of communication is what was destroying his marriage to Quani. However, after being on “Marriage Boot Camp,” he admitted to having learned to communicate better, be understanding, and love his wife even more.
2. His wife did not change her last name even after they got married
After exchanging vows, your husband will expect you to take up his last name, but not every woman is in a hurry to do so. Some prefer to keep their family name and hyphenate their husband’s name. Quani Robinson is in the rare group that opts to keep their family name instead, and it bothered Puma. For four years after marriage, Quani did not change her name, and Puma attributed it to her laziness since the process can involve lots of paperwork. Quani did not think it was a big deal saying she is not the only woman to not change her last name.
3. He grinds his teeth in his sleep
There are many annoying sleeping habits, and for most, the one that comes to mind is snoring. However, Quani confessed that the one thing she cannot stand about Puma is the fact he grinds his teeth in his sleep. Puma admitted it and added that he passed it along to their daughter. Quani must, therefore, have had long nights if their daughter insisted on sleeping in her parents’ bed; the grinding would be unbearable.
4. He hates his wife’s forgetfulness
No matter how much you love your spouse, they may have a trait that annoys you. When asked about what she thinks Puma hates about her in an interview with MadameNoire, Quani thought her husband must get irritated by her procrastination. Well, Puma does not like her delaying tactics, but what bothers him is Quani’s forgetfulness. Puma complained that Quani forgets everything, and even when she says she has lost something, his wife probably has just forgotten where she placed it.
5. Why he named his daughter, “Tamia.”
When it comes to choosing a name for your child, a lot of factors have to be considered. Some prefer naming their children after their grandparents to keep the name alive for generations. However, others depart from this tradition to pay tribute to people who may have impacted their lives. Puma chose to name his daughter, “Tamia.” It was inspired by a close friend who had chosen the name “Mia” for his daughter. However, after his friend passed away, Puma thought he should keep the memory alive by naming his child a name almost similar to the one his friend had chosen.
6. He loves being a family man
Unlike some of his fellow castmates like Ceaser, Donna, and Richard, who have been caught up with some drama revolving around their love life, Puma has proven to be different. On his Instagram, Puma shows just how much his family means to him with adorable photos. It is his pride to have a son since he immediately posted on his account that his son, Zaiden, had been born. His goofy side also is evident by some of the pictures he takes with his daughter.
7. His beef with Emanuel Ceaser made him quit “Black Ink Crew.”
They say family is not necessarily those you have blood ties with, but those who have your back rain or sunshine. Emanuel and Puma have been friends since their childhood, and Emanuel confessed he does not have too many friends apart from Puma and Ted. However, Dutchess got involved with Emanuel, and the two friends began drifting apart. Eventually, the tension caused Puma to leave the tattoo shop to start his venture, Art2Ink. Emanuel did not take kindly to the move since Puma became his competition.
8. He grew up in the Bronx
Your background should never stop you from reaching for the stars. The Bronx is the poorest borough in New York City, and many celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez and James Caan, were born there. The median income of each household stands at $37,525, less than half of Manhattan’s median of $77,559. Despite the challenges that accompany poverty, Puma has managed to rise to be one of the leading tattoo artists in New York.
9. His love for graffiti led to him becoming a tattoo artist
According to PRLOG, the Hip Hop culture came from the Bronx, and since Puma had his understanding of the culture, he created graffiti. Pauma had a flair for the artistic path he chose, and within no time, people began to recognize him. Maybe appreciating the speed at which Robinson was making progress, a tattoo artist gave him the name “Puma,” which has stuck to date. With his passion for graffiti, Puma was drawn to creating art on the body as well; hence, he found his calling in the business of tattooing.
10. His net worth
For someone who began his trade early in his life, you would expect that Puma would be in the league of Emanuel Ceaser, but he is not. While Emanuel is worth $2.2 million, Puma is only worth $150,000. It is not clear how much he makes per episode of “Black Ink Crew,” and there also seems to be no clear guidelines. For instance, according to TVstarbio, Young Bae earns $1,500, whereas Walt and Sky make $7,000.
