The trailer for HBO’s The Deuce hit the internet yesterday and even if you have no idea what it’s about, it doesn’t matter. The reason is because it’s from the creators of The Wire and since basically every person whose ever seen The Wire considers it to be one of their favorite shows of all time, The Deuce is mandatory viewing. Couple that with a show set in a time period (70s,80s) where the clothing was amazing, mustaches were common, and James Franco is the star and you know you’ve got to tune in to the premiere. And for those who need a summary of the show, here it is:
In New York, the number of those with HIV is rising and the violence of the drug epidemic is worsening. Twin brothers, Vincent and Frankie Martino, become fronts for the Mob while operating out of Times Square, which is also the home of “Candy”, a sex worker who turns to the now legal emerging adult industry.
In other words, it’s a look at life in New York City during the 1970s and ’80s when adult entertainment and prostitution were rampant in Manhattan. I mean who wouldn’t want to see a show about that? Check out the trailer below:
