All the Pop Culture Icons in the Same Universe

All the Pop Culture Icons in the Same Universe

It might not be ALL pop culture icons but there are certainly enough that a serious diagram could be made that could connect just about anyone and everyone else from this bunch. It starts off with Donkey Kong, which as we know includes Mario, who is in a lot of different games and is thus in the same universe. Then we go to Diddy Kong, Donkey’s sidekick. His spinoff game features Banjo-Kazooie and Conker, a rascally squirrel that got his own game which was explicit in its humor, something that was kind of risque for the N64 really. But if you look at the final boss of Conker it’s a xenomorph from Aliens without a doubt.

From there we move forward by claiming that the xenomorphs and the predators are in the same universe, obviously, which translates to the fact that the predators have integrated themselves into just about every publication they can, including Archie. Now that seems like a very one-sided matter, meaning Riverdale would be annihilated if a predator landed in their midst. But of course the comical nature of the cartoon no doubt made amends for this and the writers had some fun making the predator look foolish or inept in some way, or made Archie and the gang somehow more wily and tougher than usual. In any case, this takes us to the time when Archie and his friends met the band KISS. From there it’s easy to realize that KISS was seen on Scooby Doo as well, who was known to have guest stars aplenty.

One of those guest stars was Santa Claus, who’s been in a number of shows, including Sonic the Hedgehog. And then, as if to tie it all of with a neat little bow, we know that Sonic and Mario have been seen together before, which brings it just about full circle. That’s a lot of pop culture icons in one list, and it’s not even half of those that could have been mentioned since there are a lot more that have to do with other pop culture icons. For instance, the predator has taken on Batman before, and so have the xenomorphs. Batman has even appeared in Scooby Doo in the past when was toting Robin around as a sidekick. And then there’s Santa Claus, who’s been in everything from Sonic the Hedgehog to Scooby Doo to Archie to the Nightmare Before Christmas and so on and so forth.

It’s easy to connect each and every pop culture icon in some way to the same universe, but obviously the don’t exist in the same world. Different dimensions perhaps could account for this, as there’s enough scifi and fantasy between the gathered icons to fill a small library. If you really wanted you could argue that Santa and some of the DC crew have been seen in the MCU as well. There’s really no end to the connections you could make between the icons and the map would be quite extensive once it was finished.
