Rob Riggle I can see as Colonel Sanders. In fact I think Riggle was doing a great job. But Rob Lowe? It just seems really foreign to me. I understand that Lowe’s taken a much more comedic approach to his acting over the past 5 years but something doesn’t feel right about this photo. And don’t get me wrong. I couldn’t care less about PETA and their reactions to this ad, even though I’ll share them anyway.
“Rob Lowe just sold his soul to hawk the rotting carcasses of small, tortured birds. He’s lost all his animal-friendly fans, who are disgusted by KFC suppliers that pollute rivers and bays with tons of chicken waste, break birds’ wings and legs, and even scald them to death in defeathering tanks,” PETA spokeswoman Moira Colley said in an email to TheStreet. Lowe should donate his fee to a chicken sanctuary, ask the public’s forgiveness, and then bail on this lame deal,” Colley added.
He follows in the footsteps of Billy Zane, Jim Gaffigan, Norm Macdonald, George Hamilton and Darrell Hammond who have also dressed in the Colonel’s white suit to sell KFC’s chicken. Lowe is dressed in a white space suit to indicate that the new sandwich is “out of this world.”
