Patriots vs Steelers AFC Championship Predictions: This One’s Gonna Be Close

Tom Brady is a machine.  We know this.  Bill Bellichick is probably the best NFL coach of all-time.  We know this too.  This is why most people are picking the New England Patriots to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship game being played at Gilette Stadium tonight.   However, I don’t think any Patriots fans out there thinks this is going to be a walk in the park.  The Steelers have come on extremely strong in the last few weeks with Laveon Bell establishing himself as the best running back in the league.

Forget about the Mike Tomlin commentary from last week.  Forget about Antonio Bryant’s Facebook video.  Forget about all that stuff.  Just remember you’ve got Tom Brady facing off against Ben Roethlisberger.  These are two of arguably the most accomplished post season quarterbacks in NFL history.  While the Steelers are going to run the ball like crazy, you still can’t count out Big Ben.

Tom Brady may not have Gronk but that hasn’t mattered.  The difference between this Patriots team and those of the past that weren’t as successful, is that this team has an elite defense.   As most people know, defense plays and will continue to play a huge part in the NFL post season.   While I think this game is going to go to the Pats, because frankly it’s extremely hard to bet against these guys in Foxborough, this game has the makings of an historical game.

I think Brady lights up the slot with Edelman and someone, not sure who, from the Pats, comes out hero (other than Brady).  Could be Lewis.  Could be White.   Even Blount has a chance to be the hero.  Tough to say.  I say Antonio Bryant gets his yards, even a TD.  Bell will probably break 100 yards and a get a TD but ultimately this could be one of those Brady marching his team down the field in the last 2 minutes type deals.

I think the edge goes to the Pats but this should be a great game.
