I don’t need to fill up your computer screens with even more analysis of tonight’s game. You know what’s going on. UNC is squaring off against Gonzaga in the NCAA finals. The game starts at 9:20pm and it’ll be airing on CBS. However you can probably watch the game in 750 different ways by way of the internet, your phone, streaming services, radio etc etc. If you can’t figure out a way to watch or listen to the game, you really shouldn’t be a human being it today’s society.
But let’s talk about the real reason to watch tonight’s game. It begins and ends with Bill Raftery. The 73-year-old broadcaster has been a staple in the NCAA community for over 33 years as a broadcaster and was a coach before that. While Raftery’s always been a great color commentator he reached legendary status in 1988 while calling a Pittsburgh game. It was his “Send it in Jerome!” moment that will forever stick with every single NCAA fan in history. Here’s the glorious moment:
Like I said, if you’re tuning in to watch the game tonight Raftery’s your man. If we get a moment half as good as this, they’ll be talking about it for years to come. I wish you all the best in your brackets, and may God have mercy on your souls.
