New TBS Animated Series “Final Space” – What We Know so Far

TBS has made the announcement that they’re launching a new animated space saga. “Final Space” is a series created by Conan O’Brien’s Conaco productions and Olan Rogers. We’ve been privileged to learn more about what viewers can expect from the new show. Here is what we know so far about “Final Space.”

The new show will chronicle the adventures of the main characters Gary and Mooncake. They are friends who are on a quest to explore the mysteries of “Final Space,” which is the location of the end of the universe. The series is a comedy/action and sci-fi adventure animation, written in saga form. This means that there will be plenty of room for the introduction of new characters and places throughout their travels.

The characters

Gary is the main character in the show. He is an astronaut who is charged with unlocking the mysteries of “Final Space.” He is joined by his pal Mooncake. Mooncake is a planet destroyer and we imagine that throughout the series, he will be called upon to blast a few worlds in any misadventures that may be slated. We see the potential for some great action from Mooncake.

Writers for the show

“Final Space” is a collaborative effort on the part of several writers and producers. Olan Rogers and David Sacks are the main writers for the show. They also serve as executive producers along with Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross of Conaco, Larry Sullivan, David Kissinger, Matt Hoklotubbe and Melissa Schneider of New Form, and Kathleen Grace.

Production

Rogers and creative partner David Sacks will write the episodes, executive-producing them along with O’Brien, David Kissinger, Larry Sullivan and Jeff Ross of Conaco and Kathleen Grace, Melissa Schneider and Matt Hoklotubbe of New Form. O’Brien first became aware of the idea for “Final Space” after viewing the seven minute pilot created by Rogers. It was originally included in the “Incubator 3” series put out by New Form. O’Brien was impressed with the potential he saw in the pilot clip and requested that the series be created for the TBS network.

Initial impressions of the pilot

Olan Rogers’ brief clip was enough to catch the attention of the right people. With Conan O’Brien in your court, the odds of success climb to a high likelihood. This in itself is encouraging, particularly since the saga is comedic in nature and Conan knows his stuff when it comes to funny. We’re expecting the series to become one of TBS network’s big hits. So far, the clip has received nearly half a million views. This is encouraging news for creators and producers as they move the project forward.

When it will debut

The “Final Space” animated comedy saga is set to premiere sometime in 2018. We have not yet received confirmation of precisely when this will occur, but we’re keeping our ears open for future announcements. The official launch date will be announced as the network secures the appropriate date and time slot for the upcoming lineup for 2018.
