New ‘Rampage’ Trailer Fully Embraces The Absurdity of This Movie

As if the trailers of Rampage we’ve seen aren’t enough already, this new one definitely embraces the full absurdity of the movie. Don’t let the word ‘absurdity’ turn you off to the idea that this could be a very fun and engaging film. Like any movie born from a video game it stands a big chance of being little more than a fun and entertaining evening at the movies without much if any redeemable value, but so far the film looks like it’s bound to be action-packed and right on par with everything that Dwayne Johnson has done so far. The inclusion of genetically-altered animals should only be one of the few reasons that you’ll go see it.

Some of us might agree that it might be best to wait for the few months it might take to see this one on the shelves or in iTunes, but in the theater it seems like this movie might have a lot more punch and be able to impress on a much bigger scale. Just watching the trailers can make a person believe that the sound effects and the visuals are going to be over the top and off the hook. Chances are that the acting will be the only thing that will balance it out since it does manage to feature a few very well known names, Dwayne Johnson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan being just two among them.

Joe Manganiello will be there, so will Will Hun Lee, as well as several others like Naomie Harris who will have a prominent role. The movie isn’t being left to the hands of newbies to carry it thankfully, which might still be interesting but wouldn’t be as likely to draw a crowd. Even if it doesn’t live up to the hype there’s a good chance that people will state that they liked the premise and the idea of bringing another video game to the big screen in a slightly different way. Rampage was after all a popular video game at one time despite the fact that the humans were more or less the enemy and were meant to be destroyed. The monsters were the playable characters of the game and the more mayhem you caused with them the higher your score went. This time around however the humans are the protagonists and the monsters are the ones that are needing to be put down. It seems like that might have been the way it was in the game too but the roles were simply skewed to make it more entertaining.

Another interesting note is that in the original game the monsters were formerly humans that were changed by different means. The monsters in the movie however are regular animals that are being changed by an unknown substance that has altered their size, appearance, and obviously brought out their more aggressive tendencies. I mean come on, there’s a wolf that glides like a squirrel for crying out loud. Don’t get me wrong, that’s completely cool, but it’s going to change things even more than they’ve already been changed.
