Lisa Fleming Struggled With Obesity From Childhood
Like most of My 600-lb Life alums, Lisa Fleming’s unfortunate journey with obesity began during her childhood. Her parents divorced when Fleming was 9 years old and at such a young age, she couldn’t deal with it. Also, her strained relationship with her mother and the fact that her brother was murdered didn’t help. Consequently, Fleming developed an unhealthy relationship with food to deal with anxiety, eventually ruining her life.
Interestingly, Lisa Fleming’s mother also struggled with obesity before she passed. At her worst stage in life, Fleming was bedridden on the same bed her mother slept in while battling weight issues. Nevertheless, she didn’t allow the trauma she experienced as a child to stop her from taking measures to live a better life. As such, starting her weight-loss journey with Dr. Nowzaradan was one thing Fleming took very seriously.
Lisa Fleming Was Featured On My 600-lb Life Season 6
Lisa Fleming had a wake-up call when maggot began breeding in the folds of her skin. At that moment, she decided to give Dr. Nowzaradan and his team a chance to help her achieve her weight loss goals. When an ambulance came for her, seven paramedics teamed up with a reinforced ramp to lift Fleming out of the bed while her family watched. Fleming debuted on My 600-lb Life season 6 episode 7 in February 2018, receiving so much love and encouragement from viewers.
When audiences were introduced to her, Lisa Fleming weighed over 700 lbs and lost about 87 lbs after getting hospitalized. However, she didn’t have enough resilience to go through the weight loss journey and demanded to be taken to her home. On her own, Fleming lost 200 lbs after her stint on the reality show. Unfortunately, she didn’t get the happy ending she hoped for as her weight-loss goal was never achieved. Nonetheless, she stood on her feet for the first time in years after commencing her treatment.
