The Oscars that aired the other night brought us many amazing moments, including the world premiere of the teaser trailer for Disney’s ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, and guys … We are having all of the feels. It seems as though Disney has done it again, bringing us a film that will span the course of generations, both young and old, and will become an instant hit. We are here to help you break down all of the details that we can find in this short, first, teaser trailer that was released, and what fans can expect when the film comes out this Christmas season. Background Of What We Know So Far
It is good to know the plot of the film that we know so far before delving into the teaser trailer, as it might seem a bit confusing at first. When Mary Poppins Returns (no pun intended), she is coming back to the children of Michael Banks, who was one of the children in the original ‘Mary Poppins’ film. In the trailer, we are introduced to George Banks, as well as Annabel and John; These are the three children of Michael, who has recently become a widower. The film will also include Jane Banks, who is Michael’s sister, and who is there to help the family get back on their feet after his wife’s death.
This obviously means that in the new movie, the Jane and Michael Banks that we all knew before are all grown up, and trying to become a family once again. We will also be introduced to Jack, who is a chimney sweep (similar to that of Dick Van Dyke’s character in the original), and is played by Lin Manuel Miranda.
Little Bits And Pieces
As we said before, the teaser gave us all the feels, and with the simplest of details that were mixed in. We first fly in to see Admiral Boom’s house, and a street that many are all too familiar with, only to find a once beloved kite sitting in a trash bin. The kite flies about, while George chases it and flies it by its strings. As the winds get stronger, and Lin Manuel Miranda’s character comes into help, we see Mary Poppins officially make her return to the Banks once again. The witty Emily Blunt is taking on the titular role, and from the one liner that we see in the trailer makes us eager for more.
Disney has become one of the greats when it comes to teaser trailers that leave fans wanting more, and now, unfortunately, we all have to wait until Christmas of 2018 to see the beloved nanny once again come back to life. We can only hope that ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ becomes the next great reboot film to make its debut under Disney Productions.
