Why Miranda Lambert’s “Vice” is Her Most Important Song

Whether you are a country music fan or not, you have undoubtedly at least heard of the name Miranda Lambert. If you don’t tend to listen to country music, you’re probably familiar with name because of the highly publicized divorce that occurred a year or so ago between her and fellow country music artist Blake Shelton. If you somehow managed to miss out on all of that, you must have managed to avoid the overwhelming majority of the public-at-large, because you couldn’t stand in the line at the supermarket without seeing tabloids dedicating themselves to the subject, nor could you turn on the news without hearing about it. Miranda Lambert was always popular as a musician, but this put her name in the spotlight for reasons that she would probably rather not have been forced to deal with.

When it really comes right down to it, there’s a better-than-average chance that no one really knows exactly what happened in that marriage to cause the divorce except for the two people that were involved. As is usually the case, there’s a lot of he said, she said involved here and it’s impossible to know exactly what led up to them deciding that their marriage was no longer worth fighting for. However, Lambert has recently released a brand new song called Vice, and it has people talking about the subject all over again. Many people are even calling it the most important song of her career.

The song itself seems to deal a lot with somebody that is sleeping around and that’s led to a lot of speculation that Lambert herself could have been having an affair that Shelton eventually found out about. In a more recent interview, she was asked exactly what the song means and her answer was somewhat cryptic. She said that the song talks about several vices people have a tendency to flock toward whenever something happens that upsets them or throws them off guard. She admitted to having some vices of her own, although she failed to be specific about what they might be, as if it’s really anyone else’s business to begin with.

During the interview, all she would really say was that every person has certain vices and no one is perfect. She says that she is in exactly that same category, running towards things she should probably run away from when the going gets rough. With that being said, she in no way admits to being the cause of the divorce, nor does she admit specifically which vices she claims for her own.

What is clear is that this is a song that features a great deal of emotion. She says that she wrote it at the height of all the divorce drama and if you listen to the song, you can practically hear all of the emotion and pain that goes with it. For that reason, many people are touting it as one of the most important works that she’s ever released. It’s incredibly raw and it showcases the emotion that people can feel when they really don’t know what they’re supposed to do in the next week, day or even the next moment. In other words, the song resonates with a lot of individuals that listen to it.
