Should “Midnight, Texas” Be Renewed for a 2nd Season?

Midnight, Texas

These days, a lot of people think it is rather difficult to find something worth watching on television and it would be hard to make an argument against that in a lot of cases. However, there are those brief times when something worth watching does indeed come along. One interesting show that is currently airing is called Midnight, Texas. If you happen to like shows that are just a little off balance and have something to do with the supernatural, then this is probably a show that you would enjoy. Even if you don’t really identify with those things, but are looking for something different, you don’t have to look any further to find something that employs a strong departure from what you would normally find on most television stations during prime time.

There is certainly no doubt that the show is able to hold the attention of its audience and it has slowly been building that climax to the finale week after week. While there is rarely a boring moment on the show, the last couple of weeks have been especially exciting because you automatically know that they are leading up to something big. This huge event is supposed to take place on September 13th when the show has a special airing, as it typically airs on Monday nights. You can bet that those who are already fans of the show will be tuning in just to see what happens.

As far as whether or not the show is good enough to warrant a second season, it really isn’t about the quality of the episodes that have already aired. If you are looking at it strictly from that point of view, the show is definitely worth renewing for a second season in order to see what happens. The problem is that in many cases with shows like this, there is only so much that can be done before the writers are simply regurgitating something that has already been in the plot line in a previous episode. This is when fans start to grow bored with things and find something else to watch.

Unfortunately, it seems like this particular show is in danger of exactly that sort of thing, largely because of the subject matter associated with the show and the plot lines that have already taken place. It isn’t that the show lacks quality, but the truth is, there are only so many places that you can go with these types of plot lines before you run out of new ideas. The entire show is centered around this build up of the coming finale and it might be difficult to take it in a new direction without it losing some of its momentum. Granted, it has been done before with other shows, but the overwhelming majority of them were not successful.

It doesn’t seem like the plot lines were really set up for multiple seasons. Instead, the show almost feels more like an extended mini series that focuses only on one thing. While it has been very interesting, that doesn’t leave a lot of room to work when it comes to extending it into a regular series with multiple seasons.

The truth is, only time will tell what will ultimately happen with this show. If it is renewed for a second season, there will undoubtedly be some major changes that will have to be made in order to accommodate some new stories and maybe even new characters.
