Michelle Obama Announces ‘Deeply Personal’ First Memoir ”Becoming”

Michelle Obama became a role model for women everywhere when she stepped into her role as First Lady of the United States. Her husband, Barack Obama, was the first African-American president, making her the first African-American First Lady and as such, she was under the scrutiny of the public eye. However, Obama came through with flying colors, becoming not only a role model, but also an advocate for many important issues, such as poverty awareness, education, healthy eating, nutrition, and physical activity. She also become somewhat of a fashion icon; everyone’s eyes were always fastened on the First Lady.

Now that her stint is over as First Lady, she announced that she has been working on her first memoir called ”Becoming” and it will be released this November. On the subject of writing her memoir, Obama says that it has been a deeply personal experience, talking about where she came from and the journey it has taken her to get where she is today. She hopes that her book will inspire others to have the courage to become whatever they hope to be. In addition, Obama says that she is not only excited, but also looking forward to sharing her story.

This won’t be Obama’s first attempt at writing; she has also written a gardening guide and a book about good nutrition and healthy eating, both of which she wrote while still in the White House in 2012. Penguin Random House announced both Obama’s and her husband’s book deals back in February, with hers expecting to be released by the end of 2018. She will then launch a book tour supporting the memoir, with the dates for that being forthcoming later. Furthermore, Obama will recite the book for its audio version.

In Obama’s memoir, she takes on deep reflection and tells a mesmerizing story, inviting readers to join her in her world. She chronicles the events which have taken part in shaping who she is, from her growing up in Chicago’s South Side to her years of being a working mother, balancing both work and home, to her years spent in the spotlight as First Lady.

She describes both her public and private life, her disappointments and triumphs, on her own terms and in her own words. ”Becoming” is expressive, wise, and warm, about a deep personal accounting of a woman who has both substance and soul steadily defying expectations and inspiring us, so that we may do the same. The book will chronicle her life, from childhood through her time as First Lady. Obama talks about her roots, explaining how a girl from Chicago’s South Side found her own voice with which to speak up.

Obama, who is now fifty-four years old, is a lawyer in addition to being a writer. Having been married to the forty-fourth President of the United States caused her to be the first African-American First Lady. As such, she was constantly in the spotlight, many waiting for her to slip and fall. However, she used her position to try and better the country, if not the world, and many girls and women have made her their role model. Deserving of the title, Obama’s memoir will tell all how she arrived at such a destination.
