Michael Imperioli Joins Season 2 of ‘Lucifer’

Lucifer

Last month at Comic-Con International Lucifer stars and producers were conspicuously tight-lipped when asked if another archangel would be making its way to Season 2. Now we know why. It was announced at the Television Critics Association that Michael Imperioli will be joining Lucifer in the role of Uriel. Uriel is another angel who will be making his way to Los Angeles, and he also just happens to be the lesser known brother of the title fallen angel and their other brother Amenadiel.

Per Executive Producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, Uriel is the forgotten middle brother, which could lead to some lingering resentment towards Lucifer and Amenadiel. Uriel appears in the Vertigo Comics incarnation of Lucifer, but his role will take on new meaning when he comes to Los Angeles and reconnects with both of his brothers and his newly escaped mother. Considering mom Charlotte, who will be played by new regular cast member Tricia Helfer, will struggle with her new human form and reconnecting with her children, this is sure to be one heck of a family reunion.

Imperioli is probably best known for his role on The Sopranos. Most recently he has done a series of guest-starring appearances on Hawaii Five-0 and a regular role on the Amazon Prime series Mad Dogs. His vast experience is definitely a good sign that he can take on the role of an angel with more than a few emotional bruises.

You can see Imperioli in his new role when Lucifer returns to FOX September 19.
