So the guy got tired of waiting to get off the plane so he took a stroll outside and sat on the wing to wait it looks like. I agree that it takes a while to get off the plane at times but I do believe that airport security might want to have a word with you about this little adventure if they happened to see it. In some airports you might get away with a stern lecture, a fine, something, but with airports whose security is turned up to 11 you might find yourself spending a night in lockup just for the trouble this would cause.
For one you’re not supposed to open those doors by the wing unless it’s an emergency, at least that’s what I remember at this point. Two, it’s a huge liability for the airline for any non-personnel to be outside the aircraft, on the WING, unattended. And three, it’s just not a good idea, since there’s no telling if you might slip, fall, break something, hit your head, and possibly kill yourself due to the negligence of the airline. So really while the people in the background are laughing like loons and perhaps thinking this is funny the guy is being one of the most irresponsible human beings on the plane at that moment. Why?
I wish I could tell you. But in regards to why I think he’s being irresponsible it’s because he now becomes a liability to the airline and a possible impediment to anyone that simply wants to get off. I doubt this was the only camera-happy individual that shot this clip that was standing in the way of those that wanted to exit the plane. These days anything that merits some attention has people standing in groups wherever they happened to notice the event, their cameras whipped out and pictures being taken or video being shot.
Does anyone remember the days when someone might ask if the guy was okay, or perhaps if he could come back inside? Not this time. People would rather be taking pictures and videos while they chortle like little children trying to figure out just what he’s doing and why. So maybe he just didn’t want to wait inside, maybe he’s got a bit of claustrophobia that he couldn’t manage at the moment, or maybe he’s just sick and tired of waiting for people to go by so that he can finally get off the plane. No matter what it is stepping out onto the wing of an airplane is not a good idea.
At one point it looks like he’s about to jump off the wing and to the ground, but then his head clears and he really thinks about it. You’d likely have a sprained if not broken ankle, knee, leg, whatever since the ground is a ways down. Unless you’re a Parkour or martial arts expert or an acrobat of some sort it wouldn’t work. Even if you were that’s a healthy distance and absorbing the impact would be quite a feat.
