If there are two words I haven’t been able to stop hearing lately it’s Love Actually. This was a movie that took place in 2003 and captured the hearts of millions. Many consider it to be one of the better romantic films in history. No, I’m being serious. Love Actually sees nine intertwined stories examining the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all: love. Among the characters explored are David (Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon), Sarah (Laura Linney), a graphic designer whose devotion to her mentally ill brother complicates her love life, and Harry (Alan Rickman), a married man tempted by his attractive new secretary.
Fast forward to now and the humongous buzz has been about a Love Actually sequel. Fans have been going nuts at this little short film sequel that just aired in Great Britain as part of a Red Nose Day Charity Drive. The short won’t air in the United States until May 25th. However to make up for it the film will feature an “American Exclusive” scene with Laura Linney.
Even though the film exists, it didn’t technically bring the cast together. All of the stories were still separate hence filming was separate. However, Entertainment Weekly did manage to get Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Andrew Lincoln, Bill Nighy and more in the same room, though not necessarily at the same time.
