Fans of “Rick and Morty” have a lot to look forward to with the premiere of season 3 just around the corner. The Adult Swim animation is set to kick of its new season on Sunday, July 30th at 11:30 p.m. We’re here to give you a sneak peak at the exciting lineup of guest stars who will be making appearances as well as news about what the series creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have planned for animation styles and possible spinoff shows. Read on to find out what you can expect from the third season of this popular animation.
Guest stars for season 3
According to IndieWire, the season 3 guest list will include appearances by Peter Serafinowicz, Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Thomas Middlemitch, Danny Trejo, Christian Slater and Susan Sarandon. We can also expect to see the return of Keith David as the voice of the President of the U.S. The season 3 trailer is out and we know that pickle Rick will show up. The question is, will you be able to recognize the voices of the guests? We’re not sure if they will be appearing as themselves or in an alternate form. In the multiverse of Rick and Morty, guests can show up as a range of different characters so you’ll have to be alert and at your best in order to pick them out. It’s nice to be surprised and with a heads up, you’ll have an easier time identifying them.
Keith David’s return
Keith David is legendary and fans remember his cameo appearance in the role of the President on the “Get Schwifty” episode. Watch for his return as he lends his voice to the colorful and animated role (no pun intended).
Popular characters will return
The creators of the series leaked a few clues about what viewers can expect to see in the third season. They’ve got a lot on tap, but final cuts are still being made. They admit that the deliberations about which scenes are going to be included. Their arsenal is immense, but they’re picky about what they want to air. The concepts are going to be as bizarre and off the track as ever. They can’t seem to get away from Pickle Rick or the lighthouse keeper and they’ve been having a lot of fun with the characters in creating the scenarios that you’ll soon be watching. If they’re having such a great time putting it all together, imagine how entertained viewers are going to be when its all released in the form of weekly episodes.
Character personality traits
Harmon and Roiland also admit that they share some of the personality traits of the characters Rick and Morty. Harmon has developed Rick with himself in mind, but he is perhaps more similar to Jerry in his cowardice. Roiland associates more with Morty with his confidence issues and angst over social situations.
More spoiler information
Comic Con is the place to watch a clip from season 3 at the upcoming panel. Thematically, we’re going to see a return of nihilistic/anarchist tones. There is a possibility that the creators will import other characters from other networks in a crossover episode, but they would neither confirm or deny the probability of this, leading us to believe that they have some special plans that fans will appreciate. They’ve given us a few crumbs to keep us going, but Harmon and Roiland are keeping a buttoned lip for the most part. At least we have a teaser that lets us know season 3 will be awesome to say the least, and you won’t want to miss the premiere episode.
