The premiere of the 11th season of “The Little Couple” kicked off Sept, 19, 2017 and it was a heartwarming opening for the reality series. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, Bill decides to head to Houston to do what he can to help in the recovery efforts. He and Jen discuss his departure and it is decided that she will stay behind to prepare for their trip to Scotland. Jen is nervous about Bill’s trip, but she has faith in his common sense and believes that he will do whatever is necessary to stay safe while offering his help to the victims.
Bill takes care of business in Houston
The first episode takes us to Houston into the devastated neighborhoods that Bill still considers to be home. His first task is to check on the home that he and Jen recently listed for sale. He realizes how lucky they were because the property received minimal damage, while some others nearby, are a total loss. He and his helper load the truck with dog food and take to the streets. They drive through some of the badly damaged neighborhoods where they find homeowners working to salvage what they can. He is on a mission to deliver dog food to help owners in caring for their pets. He doesn’t get may takers at first, but he is directed to a sheltering facility that can use the donation.
Proof that Texans are resilient
One of the most remarkable things that we saw in this episode is the fact that the Texans who lost so much were happily working. Several commented that they are “okay” and very thankful that their families had survived. These resilient Texans shared that the material things could be replaced and indicated that so long as people are still okay, everything is going to work out. Most were cheerful and there was no indication of self-pity as they went about the task of cleanup and recovery.
Off to a positive start
The season opener set a positive tone for the rest of the year. The Klein family are decent people who try to help others who are less fortunate. They have plenty of their own struggles, but they don’t dwell on them. Instead, they help others. Bill didn’t even seem to be too upset when his rental truck lost its transmission from flood damage. He just acquired another one and kept on his mission.
What’s next?
We’re looking forward to watching the second episode which airs on September 26th. The Klein’s take a family vacation to Scotland. They arrive in London and find out what it’s like to participate in a “proper British tea.” In addition, they attempt to recreate the Beatles cover of the song “Abbey Road.” Will and Zoey will also attempt to question one of the royal guards. These two are so cute that we’re wondering if the gentlemen on duty will be able to resist them. We’ll have to wait to find out. After the intensity of the first episode, it will be fun to go with them on vacation for a little rest and relaxation.
