Kylie Jenner began “weeping” after playing her family’s reality show for the first time for her young daughter.
The beauty mogul explained to 8-year-old Stormi that the E! reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians is how her family became world-famous.
“I sat her down, and I’m like, ‘We started a television show when I was a year older than you, and that’s why we’re all in this together’”’ Kylie told singer Kid Cudi on his podcast, Big Bro.

“[Stormi] was like, ‘Can I watch it?’ And I’m like, ‘Sure.’”
Kylie showed Stormi, whom she shares with rapper Travis Scott, one of the early episodes from the show but had to skip some “inappropriate” parts.
“Some things I didn’t realize were inappropriate, so right when I knew that it was about to start playing, I fast-forwarded through all the inappropriate stuff,” she said.

“But I showed her a cute scene of a house party that we had and some little things that I knew were fine.”
The trip down memory lane, as an adult woman now with a daughter of her own, was very emotional for Kylie, who began “weeping” in bed after watching the show.
“I don’t know why that happened to me,” she continued. “Maybe it’s my daughter being the same age as I was, and seeing my family, and [to] be feeling so grateful for all that we built—but also mourning that closeness when we were all living under the same roof.”

“I didn’t know it was gonna hit me like that,” the 28-year-old admitted.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired on E! Entertainment for 20 seasons between 2007 and 2021. In 2022, the family moved their show to Hulu, rebranded simply as The Kardashians.
Months before Keeping Up premiered, Kim Kardashian received media attention for the unauthorized release of an adult video with singer Ray J.

As for what motivated Kylie to share the show with Stormi, she revealed that her 8-year-old had begun asking about her family’s notoriety, possibly as a result of comments from classmates.
“I think now that she’s in school, she’s asking more questions,” the Khy founder explained on the podcast. “She says some kids are fans of her dad, so I think it’s becoming more present in her mind.”
In addition to Stormi, Kylie shares a 4-year-old son, Aire, with Travis Scott. The parents began dating in 2017 and separated in 2023.
Stormi, 8, has begun asking why her family is famous
Elsewhere on the podcast, Kylie revealed that she finds it “really scary” to think how her fame will impact her children in the future, saying, “I don’t know how I’m going to handle it.”
For the time being, the mom is happy that Stormi and Aire are keeping her “grounded” and are not yet fully aware of all the stories and attention surrounding the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
“I have my family. I have my kids that I go home to that love me so much and have no idea what’s going on in this world.”

The Kylie Cosmetics founder was also asked about her boyfriend of three years, Marty Supreme actor Timothée Chalamet.
While the couple keep their relationship private, Kylie did answer a question about her favorite film from her Oscar-nominated partner.
“That’s hard for me because I really love them all,” she said, before deciding her favorite was Call Me By Your Name. Additionally, she revealed that she loved the Dune films.

The Kardashians have defended their family’s success amid criticism that they’re “famous for being famous.”
“We focus on the positive, we work our a**es off — and lucky us. We don’t have to sing, dance. We get to just live our lives, and, hey, we made it,” Kim said.

Addressing her infamous video with Ray J, she stated, “Being on a reality show, let alone a reality-show girl with a s*x tape, does not open doors. I always felt like I had to work extra hard to be taken seriously and for people to forget about my past.”

Kris Jenner, the “momager” who manages all of her children’s careers, attributed the family’s success to their businesses. She also suggested there was gender bias behind the criticism of their lack of artistic talent.
“I don’t know why this question got started about how much talent we have. Would they ask Jeff Bezos that? ‘Can you dance? Can you sing?’” she said. “We have some amazing businesses that became super successful.”
Fans of the show reacted to Kylie Jenner’s “full-circle moment”
