Two amazing Hollywood actresses are working together to bring an all new series to television. Thanks to Reese Witherspoon, Kristen Wiig is now returning to TV. In fact, Wiig is going to be staring in a 30-minute comedy from Apple, which was produced by Hello Sunshine. The upcoming series is going to be based on the collection of short stories by Curtis Sittenfeld, which are called “You Think It, I’ll Say It.” These stories upend all the assumptions about important social issues, such as gender roles, relationships and class in a nation that feels viscerally divided and adrift.
The show, which is being produced by the production company owned by Reese Witherspoon = mentioned earlier (Hello Sunshine) is going to have an all-star lineup of producers and showrunners. Witherspoon herself, along with Lauren Neustadter will be executive producers, along with Wiig, and showrunner and creator will be Colleen McGuinness, who is also responsible for the hit show “30 Rock.” Sittenfeld is said to be stting in as a consulting producer.
According to sources, this is the first time Wiig has been back on television since her time on “Saturday Night Life,” when she was a regular on the show, between the years of 2005 and 2012. While her time on the show, she earned three Supporting Actress awards in a Comedy, as well as Emmy nominations for the work she did on this show.
What Has Wiig Been Up To?
Even though Wiig has made a few guest appearances on the show “Last Man On Earth” in 2017, she has really been concentrating on the movies she was in, such as “Downsizing” and “Ghostbusters.”
What is Apple’s Involvement?
According to sources, Apple is expected to invest up to $1 billion in 2018 in original content. This will include a space series from the creator of “Battlestar Galactica” Ronald D. Moore. Another project is a more futuristic drama that is being created by the director of the successful “Hunger Games” series. Additionally, there will be an unscripted series featuring “extraordinary homes,” as well as a drama that will star Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon and be focused on network morning shows.
There is also talk of the company working to revive the anthology series by Steven Spielberg, “Amazing Stories,” having Bryan Fuller as the host.
What’s Happening with the New Wiig Series Now?
Currently, Apple is still shopping the series to various networks and studios. This means you may not know where to watch it yet, but can expect to see this series sometime later in 2018.
According to a recent interview with Reese Witherspoon, she has stated that the opportunity to work with Wiig on this type of show is a dream come true. She even hinted that there may be a special guest appearance during the series, which is definitely something you shouldn’t miss out on. More information about the show is set to be released soon, including when it will air.
