Kate Gosselin is making a return to television and this time, she is getting her own show. She is a lucky girl as not only is she making a comeback in her television career, she is also getting the opportunity to hit the dating scene. The 43-year-old’s new show is called ‘Kate Plus Date’. The series revolves around Kate trying to find someone to love. She has decided to do this show as it is the beginning of a new phase in her life.
Kate met her ex-husband John Gosselin in 1997 and they were married in 1999. She was unable to conceive naturally due to polycystic ovary syndrome, so they opted to use fertility treatment. Their twin girls, Madelyn and Cara, were born in 2000. She then used fertility treatment to become pregnant for the second time and give birth to sextuplets; Aiden, Colin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, and Leah.
It was the birth of the sextuplets that first brought Kate Gosselin to the attention of the public as the family appeared in an NBC reality show called ‘Home Delivery’. The series showed how the family renovated their home to accommodate their eight children. They then went on to feature in a special shown on Discovery Health called ‘Surviving Sextuplets and Twins’ followed a year late by the special ‘Surviving Sextuplets and Twins: One Year Later’.
After the success of these, Jon and Kate were signed by Discovery Health to have their own series called ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8′. This reality series involved the family being filmed for four or five days a week. Sadly, the couple divorced in 2009.
Kate is now at a new stage in her life. Not only is she a single woman, her children are also growing up and becoming more independent. Twins Cara and Madelyn are leaving for college next year and Colin will also be away as he is enrolled in a program away from home. This means that Kate will now have just five of the sextuplets at home.
She has said that she is excited about the opportunity to take part in this new series but is also nervous about what awaits. However, she said that her children have been supportive. Kate explained that some of her children were concerned that she would be home alone now that they are growing up and moving on with their lives. They are keen for her to find love and have someone with whom she can share her life.
Kate feels that dating on television is possibly one of the safest ways for her to find someone. She is scared to go on a date with a stranger but doing so on television means that the camera crew will also be there, and this is reassuring to her.
She has also spoken about the type of man she is hoping to meet. Kate would prefer to meet a confident man with an established career. She has said that working away would not be an issue for her as she is used to spending time on her own. She doesn’t want a man to become a replacement dad for her children but would obviously love for them to develop a friendship and mutual respect.
