Judge Judy is Not Dead Despite Internet Hoax Saying Otherwise

It seems like people really enjoy creating rumors about celebrities these days. If you read things about a celebrity online, it’s really not that much different than reading something about them in one of those tabloid magazines. You have no way of knowing what’s really true and what isn’t, especially when you’re talking about things online. After all, people can post anything they want online and try to pass it off as truth. There is essentially no filter so it doesn’t matter what somebody says, it may or may not have a grain of truth to it.

Such is the case with Judy Sheindlin, more commonly known as Judge Judy. There’s no doubt that you’ve seen her on television and even if you haven’t watched the show, you’ve probably seen her when you were flipping through channels. Most people are at least familiar with who she is. Recently, somebody decided that it would be comical for them to create a fake story online about her death. By the way, she’s actually very much alive. The entire story was fake but that didn’t stop someone from creating a fairly elaborate story online about how she died. They even tried to take things up a notch or two and went as far as attempting to edit her very own Wikipedia page and include a date of death. This is basically what gave things away and made people suspicious that something wasn’t quite right.

It was obvious that somebody had tampered with the Wikipedia page and this made people wonder what was going on. Of course, you had some people that believed the story right away and before long, it started circulating on social media. This story finally escalated to the point that Judge Judy herself went on the Ellen show to let everyone know that she was indeed alive and well. She certainly isn’t the first celebrity to fall victim to such false claims. Over the years, people have made a habit out of talking about celebrities and saying that they have died when there is no truth to it whatsoever. It’s hard to understand why this is something that anyone would consider a fun activity, but it certainly does seem to happen a lot.

These days, it happens even more frequently because it’s so easy to do it. In a world where people can post something on Facebook or Twitter and have thousands of people reading it instantly, it’s easy to put any kind of information they want out there without having any concern whatsoever for the truth. That is precisely what happened here. Creating websites or posting articles to websites about something that isn’t true is one thing but posting it on social media to ensure that it goes viral is something else entirely.

Perhaps the 76 year old judge was a target of this type of thing because she’s very direct. Being as outspoken as she is, she has no doubt offended a few people along the way. Perhaps this is somebody’s rather sick way of trying to get back at her or maybe it’s just because somebody that has way too much time on their hands and they need to find a way to be a little more productive. The truth is, nobody really knows who did it or why. The important thing here is to get the word out that the story isn’t true. When news circulates of a celebrity’s death, people that are fond of that individual understandably want to get to the bottom of things. It’s ridiculous to have this type of thing going on when there’s no truth to it to begin with.

As far as Judge Judy is concerned, she seemed to take the whole thing in stride. Instead of getting angry over the situation, she really just laughed it all off and chalked it up to people not really having anything better to do with their time. She even made it a couple of comments about being surprised that she had become a big enough celebrity for anyone to make up a story about her in the first place. After all, she has joined the ranks of many of the most famous celebrities in history by becoming an unwilling participant in yet another “death post” taking place online.
