10 Things You Didn’t Know about Jenna Coleman

One thing you might be able to say about Jenna Coleman is that she’s ambitious, and she seems to know just which direction to turn that ambition in order to get to where she wants to be. So far in her career, which began in 2005, she hasn’t done as much as you might think, but then again she’s had less than a decade to really ramp things up so it might be that she just needs another year or two to really get things lined up the way she wants. She’s not a rookie in the business by any means but one thing that needs to be understood is that the film and TV industries don’t just open up for anyone no matter what seems to happen at times.

Actors still have to earn their place in the spotlight, and even upon reaching it they have to continually work to stay there so that they don’t get bumped aside for newer, younger talent. To this point Jenna has managed to show that she has the grit and determination to stay the course and continue to prove that her work ethic and talent are both enough to carry her forward and continue to shape her career. In terms of films she hasn’t done much in the past couple of years, but she’s stuck with her TV career and it might be that this is where her niche lies.

With that being said, here are a few things you might not have known about Jenna.

10. She’s been a star on Dr. Who.

She was there for five episodes as Clara Oswald and was there long enough to interact with two different Doctors. This is a huge feather in the cap of anyone that has been given the luck to star on this show since Dr. Who has become one of pop cultures most beloved and followed icons. Simply being associated with this show is enough for most people to be grateful for the opportunity.

9. She would like to be a Bond Girl.

Some women would love to have this chance, others would probably pass. Being a Bond girl is more than just being a pretty face, but it’s also something that some folks still see as incredibly sexist. These days however a woman has to have the looks, a brain, and a particular kind of personality to make it work. The same old stereotype just doesn’t fly as much anymore.

8. She’s more comfortable in crowds.

Jenna has admitted that when she’s alone and has to talk to someone that she’s a bit more nervous and jittery. Being in a crowd tends to calm her down and allow her to loosen up a bit.

7. Her acting career started when she was 19.

She started fairly young, but not so young that ever had the chance to suffer misfortune as a child actor. While that seems to happening less and less these days the possibility of it is still there.

6. She’s been involved with charity work.

She’s the ambassador to the One to One Children’s Fund, an organization that works out of South Africa and helps to raise awareness of HIV. Jenna also an ambassador for Place2Be, a group that offers therapeutic services in schools.

5. Jenna has done a bit of advertising in her career.

She took a job as the narrator for the Royal Caribbean UK advertising in 2017. It might not have been the biggest gig but it was something that kept her career going and was something different as well.

4. She had a part in Captain America: The First Avenger.

It wasn’t a huge role, but it was role all the same in a Marvel movie that, like Iron Man, was responsible for helping to kick off a huge forward movement in the MCU that got the ball rolling until we have what we have today. She was one of the young ladies that Bucky found to double date with. It’s just a shame that Steve was at that time a small guy with a big heart, otherwise both women might have swooned over what he became later on.

3. She has a more extensive TV career than she does in film.

Again this might just be that TV is her niche and that’s where her talents shine the brightest. It’s never a bad thing since everyone has a place they fit in. Some folks fit in just about anywhere, but some really have a spot that allows them to flourish more frequently.

2. She’s had a part in a video game.

In 2011 she voiced the character of Melia in the Xenoblade Chronicles. This obviously wasn’t a big role but it was something else to add to her resume.

1. She regrets not having a traditional university experience.

It’s hard to say you regret something you’ve never done but if it’s something that you at least wanted to try then it’s easy to say that you missed out.

So far in her career Jenna seems to be on the right track, as she’s done what it takes to become who she is now.
