10 Things You Didn’t Know about Jaeden Martell

Jaeden Martell isn’t your average teenager. The talented actor has already started building a successful career and his start is currently on the rise. Many people will recognize Jaeden from his role as Bill Denbroug in Stephen King’s It. He is also known for playing Jacob Barber in the Apple TV series, Defending Jacob. His ability to portray a teenager who was accused of murdering a classmate gave viewers chills. While it’s unclear if the series will receive another season, Jaeden will be back on screen very soon. He has a role in the upcoming  drama film, Tunnels. 1. He Never Wanted To Become An Actor

Since Jaeden began his acting career at such an early age, most people probably assume that acting has always been his dream, however, that’s not true. He told Collider, “I never wanted to be an actor, growing up. This really was a huge surprise. I just feel so lucky that I’m able to do what I love. ”

2. He Had The Freedom To Decide Whether Jacob Was Guilty Or Innocent

Although Defending Jacob was based on a book, the series makes Jacob much more complex and also makes his innocence or guilt a lot more ambiguous. One of the things many fans may not realize is that Jaeden was actually given the freedom to decide whether or not he wanted the character to be seen as guilty, innocent, or somewhere in the middle. Even after the final episode, the question of his innocence is still up in the air.

3. He’s An Ambassador For The Special Olympics

Jaeden may be young, but he already understands the importance of having a big platform and he plans to use it to support the things he believes in. He recently announced that he will be an ambassador for the 2022 Special Olympics and he is very excited about the opportunity.

4. He Has A Very Close Relationship With His Mom

Some parents can be very discouraging when their children decided to do something that is seen as nontraditional. If it isn’t about academics there are many parents who don’t want to hear it. Jaeden’s mother has never been like that, however. She has always been supportive of her son’s journey and the two are very close.

5. He Got His Start With Commercials

Everybody has to start somewhere, and for Jaeden, that somewhere was commercials. While commercials don’t provide the same exposure as major film or TV roles, they can be a great way to gain experience and also build connections with people in the industry.

6. He’s A Philadelphia Native

Philadelphia is home to lots of talented people, and Jaeden Martell is yet another one we can add to the list. He was born the city and spent his early years there but relocated to Los Angeles with his mother when he was around 8-years-old. Even though he’s used to life on the west coast now, Philly will always have a special place in his heart.

7. He Began His Acting Career Under A Different Name

During the early days of his career, Jaeden was credited as Jaeden Lieberher, however, he ultimately decided to work under his mother’s maiden name, Martell. Jaeden’s father is well-known chef, Wes Lieberher, however it’s unclear whether or not hey have a close relationship.

8. He Hopes To Work Behind The Camera Some Day

Jaeden is enjoying his acting work, but he has plans to do other things in the future. At some point, he hopes to get the chance to work behind the scenes as a writer and an actor. If his other skills are anything like his’s acting, he should have no problems finding success.

9. He Has Asian Roots

Most people who look at Jaeden probably assume that his ancestry is only European, but little do they know he is Asian as well. In an Instagram post he said, “Many of you may not know that I’m a quarter Korean and it’s a huge part of who I am. Excited to see the change and representation of more minorities on screen because this is what the country really looks like.”

10. He’s Good Friends With Jack Dylan Grazer

Being young in the entertainment industry can be very challenging, so it’s important to be surrounded with positive people who have your best interest at heart. Jaeden has been fortunate to make some solid friends in his acting journey including Jack Dylan Grazer who he worked with in It.
