History Channel’s Six Has Potential But Will it Deliver?

While the History Channel began as just that, an actual television channel about history, it’s quickly evolved into a reality TV portal producing and airing some popular shows like The Curse of Oak Island, Swamp People, Counting Cars, and many others.   Tonight, History is upping the ante by getting into drama with its premier of Six.   According to IMDB

“SIX” tells the story of members of Navy SEAL Team 6, who are given a simple mission in 2014: eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan. That task becomes more complicated when they make the discovery of an American citizen who is working with the terror group as a jihadi fighter. The series, which is inspired by actual events, is written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter William Broyles Jr. (“Apollo 13”) and military special operations veteran David Broyles.

With Harvey Weinstein on board as a creator this show has a ton of potential.  With Sons of Anarchy and Justified alum Walton Goggins taking the lead, the show promises to take the viewer on an inside journey into the secretive military world we only tend to see on shows like Homeland.   The trailer almost looks like movie production value and the documentary style filming should prove to be raw and emotional like war movies try to portray.

Only time will tell is this mini-series will have the chops to be an award winner but it’s a bold move by History and I’m looking forward to it.   A newly released trailer is below:
