Artist Willie Hsu draws eerie sketches of animals and people that appear as if they have been trapped behind glass. With each drawing constructed using clever shadowing, it makes them appear as if they are real, three-dimensional, and are trying to reach out to the viewer from the afterlife through the page.
“There’s just something about the enigmatic beauty surrounding the unknown that I find truly intriguing,” the artist told Bored Panda. “I often wonder what happens when someone passes and they haven’t fulfilled their purpose. Do they stay among the living, trapped in the amber of their regrets? Waiting in the moments they wish could be rectified? Or do they just hover aimlessly behind a mysterious layer of fog-filled purgatory? I want each and every ghostly figure I create to tell a story or to convey a message,” Willie Hsu explains.
