I Hart Food: New Show on Food Network You Should Try

I Hart Food is the female version of Guy Fieri’s Triple D (Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) but without the spiked hair and the shiny red classic convertible. Granted, the I Hart Food hostess also has platinum blonde hair but she approaches the food choices just a bit differently than the well-known Guy, who BTW, has another new show starting soon on the Food Network called “Guy’s Family Road Trip”.

So, just who is the hostess of I Hart Food, you may ask? Well, her name is Hannah Hart and, for the past five years, she has been a true YouTube sensation. She started sharing videos of her favorite foods and some pretty funny puns online in “My Drunk Kitchen” and, like some other video phenoms, she ended up with her own television show. And, much like Guy, she’ll be traveling around this great country of ours, exploring numerous regional culinary faves from coast to coast.

Hannah’s also a proud member of the LGBTQ community and very popular among folks both from that group as well as many others who aren’t. She has a quick wit and a warmth that puts both the audience and the people she’s working with instantly at ease. Her quips are quite cute and her knowledge of all things foodie is extensive. She also has 2.5 million current subscribers plus an additional 2.3 million followers on Instagram and Twitter.

Her first I Hart Food show aired on August 14, 2017, and was broadcast from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Naturally, the food choices included lots of peppers and the beginning of the segment explains the heat index from benign bell peppers all the way up to ultra-hot habanero peppers and the hottest one of all with a scary name to match, the Carolina Reaper. Hannah even answers that age-old question of what to reach for when the heat hits your tongue and you can’t take it. Everyone usually reaches for a cold drink, (a beer maybe?), but Hannah explains that a PB&J sandwich is actually better for cooling down your mouth. Who knew?

So, anyway, a pepper expert helps her with the pepper intro and shows how peppers are roasted. Then he goes on to show how to make Chile Rellenos and they looked so good, I wanted to jump up and run out to my local Mexican restaurant to order some. Yummy! But, on the other hand, I didn’t want to miss the rest of Hannah’s first show either.

She continued on to several other of Santa Fe’s favorite eateries and, yes, they also served lots of peppers, mainly made into red or green sauce and gracing a variety of dishes from juicy burgers to huevos rancheros. Frankly, they all looked really good and I’m going to try them myself at home. Or, maybe I ‘ll just go out and order some.

Anyway, next stop Asheville, NC. for some lamb ribs and blueberry BBQ sauce. Blueberry? Well, why not? Sounds OK to me, so I’ll be tuning into I Hart Food on the Food Network at 8:00 pm (that’s mountain time) on Monday, August 21 to see what goes into blueberry BBQ sauce, besides blueberries of course. And, I’m quite sure Hannah Hart will make everyone want to try it at their next cookout. Hey, maybe Labor Day would be perfect for that!

After NC, I Hart Food will be traveling to Maine (mmmm seafood), Oregon, Minnesota, and then to Montana. I know we’ll all be looking forward to every single city and what Hannah and the chefs along the way have to offer.
