Erin Moran, who was most well known for playing the part of Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days, died at the age of 56. Moran had reportedly struggled with alcohol throughout the years and some of her personal issues including a home foreclosure were made public. Her cause of death has not been officially released.
However, the UK Daily Mail is reporting, “A source told DailyMail.com that Moran, who lived in a trailer park in New Salisbury, Indiana, died of a suspected heroin overdose.”
That has not been officially confirmed, though, as authorities in Indiana say that an autopsy is pending, according to TMZ. Moran also had much publicized issues with alcohol and other problems over the years, the British publication has not revealed its source, and other publications say the cause of death is not yet clear. According to TMZ, “authorities in Indiana got a call just after 4 PM ET Saturday from someone reporting an ‘unresponsive female.’ EMT’s arrived and found Erin Moran’s body … she was already dead.”
So far Moran’s co-stars and other celebrities have taken to Twitter to offer their condolences. Moran is unfortunately another child actress who was rife with issues after her early stardom. Moran was last living in a trailer park in Indiana. Here are some tweets that followed the news:
OH Erin… now you will finally have the peace you wanted so badly here on earth …Rest In It serenely now.. too soon
