Las Vegas is beginning to look like a destination for Gen-Xers who want to see their fave musical performers live. Las Vegas can appeal to all sorts of people, and Gwen Stefani can be added to the list as she has booked a 25 day performance residency at the Planet Hollywood resort casino. Now that her gig with The Voice is winding down, she has some time on her hands and wants to motivate herself to get back on to the stage in front of a live audience.
After seeing Lady Gaga and others signing deals to make a go of it in Sin City, she is reported as saying it is a great honor to get an invite. As a native of Anaheim, California, only a 5 hour drive away from the city, she says the idea of performing in Vegas was not even on her radar. But the decision was not hers alone. As it turns out, she wanted the green light from her three sons before inking the deal. Current boyfriend Blake Shelton, also sitting on The Voice, encouraged her, but she wasn’t making the move without his approval.
But it’s not all about Stefani. According to organizers, the performances will also be used to benefit Las Vegas based Cure 4 the Kids Foundation. One dollar will be donated for each ticket sold to help with the foundation’s goals. This is continuing in her Christmas spirit as her first holiday album which debuted last year started hot on the Billboard charts.
Insider information has Gwen in high energy mode, planning all the details about the set, costumes, and stage design for the upcoming Zappo Theater concerts. She is scheduled to perform in the months of June, July, and December for 2018, and February and March for next year. That means she will have other opportunities to perform elsewhere, and likely to be involved with the future next season’s The Voice. Of course, with Blake Shelton on her arm, all of this fits in perfectly with making a childhood fantasy become reality.
For Stefani, much of the Vegas residency is about the experience itself. Beyond the planning, she will be performing on a relative small stage for 4600 people. That’s far from many of her outdoor concerts that seated tens of thousands of fans. As an A-list performer, she is certain to be performing to packed houses every single performance. She has gotten inspiration from personally attending J-Lo’s Vegas show, posting a pic on Instagram that was captioned, “Your Vegas show was so good.”
April 13th is when tickets for her performances will go on sale. Expect the summer concert tickets to sell out quickly. As the chosen venue for many of the 40-something top A-list stars, going there in December when Lady Gaga is scheduled to open, can be a musical holiday fest. February and March of 2019 seems far away, but they say the best time to visit Las Vegas is when the cold weather settles in over most of the country. Seeing Stefani perform is a great way to get rid of any leftover winter blues you may have.
