If you’re a fan of preacher Joel Osteen you might not want to keep reading. But if you do keep in mind that a prank such as this didn’t truly hurt anything but people’s feelings and in truth kind of exposed just how smitten people are with Osteen in a very misguided way. Why misguided? Honestly it’s a personal opinion, but Osteen is just one more televangelist in search of fame and fortune while claiming to serve the lord and do His work through capitalistic avarice. People can believe whatever they want and that’s okay, because we’re allowed and I won’t bother telling anyone to stop following Osteen. But seeing as how easy it was for Michael Klimkowski, who is a spot on match for Joel Osteen, to infiltrate one of Osteen’s events it seems that the man’s followers don’t know the man quite as well as they thought.
It wasn’t even until he got close to taking the stage that people finally started to realize that he wasn’t the real Joel Osteen. A lot of fans and those working the event were so in awe of the fact that he was walking among them that you can watch their jaws drop and their expressions of disbelief as they see him coming around. That doesn’t say much for a man that’s supposed to be serving the people that they’re amazed to see him among the followers that he claims to serve. Instead that seems to be the reaction of those watching a celebrity mingle with the ‘common folk’, lowering himself just enough to come stroll among them as an equal.
Does that really sound like a guy who is in touch with his flock? Honestly, some of the folks were so blown away that Joel Osteen might actually care enough to walk around the grounds of his own event that it seemed like the most monumental thing they’ve ever seen. And on the outside I can only shake my head. There’s more respect to be had for a small-time church pastor that tends a flock of regular followers dutifully for his entire life than there is for a man that ventures into the crowd so little that people worship him in a way that’s a little obscene to be honest.
Can you tell what my opinion on Joel Osteen might be at this moment? It’s my opinion keep in mind, not what I believe others should follow. Many people look up to Osteen and think of him as one of the greatest things to happen to Christianity in a long time, but personally I think the guy is another fraud lining his pockets at the expense of the faithful. Remember, opinion only, not a proven fact.
But the idea that this look-alike could get so far into the building and fool so many people speaks volumes about how much Osteen’s followers really know him. Obviously he’s not mingling with the common folk all that much if enough folks can’t pick out an impersonator that quickly.
