Grey’s Anatomy 10.07 Review: “Thriller”

thriller

TV shows that try and do Halloween episodes usually fail to be anything but cheesy. Grey’s Anatomy didn’t completely drop the ball as far as this episode went, but it did have the side of cheese. Grey’s should not have a Zombie story line. It’s just wrong!

Leah and Arizona are in bed together, Leah is being weird, and Arizona tries to tell her she can stay but Leah goes on about how she’s easy and it’s just casual, so it’s just an awkward morning after. I honestly can’t believe they actually went and created a weird thing with those two. Leah is just mean and despite the fact that we have seen her cry a few times, I don’t really buy into all the odd emotions or the connection between the two. When Leah gets bitten by the zombie and has to wait out an HIV test, she understandably freaks out and Arizona consoles her. I have no idea what is going to happen with the two of them, but it’s not looking good for Arizona and Callie.

Callie still refuses to see her, but after realizing that you only get so many Halloweens before your daughter starts to dress like a hooker. She goes to the same kid’s party as Arizona, and while the episode ends before there is any interaction, I don’t hold out much hope for them.

Owen tells Callie that he and Emma split up because he just wasn’t ready to move on quite yet. After he and Christina preform a surgery together, he realizes that he might actually be ready, and makes a super awkward call to Emma and say he wants to try again. Owen and Christina perform surgery on a patient whose organs are in reverse. Owen, despite being the senior and more experienced in things like trauma, has a hard time getting into a rhythm.

Did I mention the guy with the reverse organs was also the Zombie? He bit a guy in the face and took two to the chest, which should have been in the heart but since his heart was on the other side it wasn’t all that bad. The guy who he bit freaked because he saw this man get shot in the heart and not bat an eye. He had to be convinced he wasn’t turning, which was actually pretty amusing. I want to have a conversation with someone one day where I have to convince them they are not going to become the undead. It’s a dream.

Bailey’s husband, Ben, comes back from med school unannounced and drops the bomb that he quit. This is the guy who left his wife and stepson a week after they got married. He worked incredibly hard to get Bailey to date and marry him and then he just drops the bomb that he’s leaving for med school. Now, after all this time, he tells her he just quit to be with them. Bailey tells him she’s disappointed in him and it’s kind of heart breaking.

All of this and Alex and Jo get back together and Derek preforms surgery on butterfly wings. Halloween is over, and now we can look forward to the drama of the holidays!
