Gossip Girl 4.12 “Damian Darko” Review

Gossip Girl 4.12 “Damian Darko” ReviewThe ‘Blair and Dan quagmire’ got more complicted in last night’s Gossip Girl, and is it just me or is the chemistry between the two worth an A+ or what?

Dair To Go There?

Forget Chuck’s drama with the Thorpes or Serena’s latest boy toy of the moment theatrics, seeing Dan and Blair spar with each other in the halls of W. Magazine was a definite delight. Leighton Meester and Penn Padgley clearly carried this entire episode and it’s about time the writers gave them more screen time together to actually get to know one another. Sure Dan and Blair have been involved in schemes and take-downs together, but I can’t remember when the two actually got to know one another in great detail. Now that Humphrey and B can acknowledge each other as more than a commoner and a diabolical respectively, will their relationship transcend that of just a budding friendship?

The stars have been aligning for such a union lately and this episode was no exception, but are fans of Chair willing to let go of their prized possession if just for a little while longer? The only scene between Chuck and Blair last night was semingly portrayed as two former lovers who have moved on with their lives, as if the two had come to terms with their split. There is a possibility that I might have been the only person who interpreted the scene that way, but I’m sticking to it.

Damian Who?

Since the episode was titled “Damian Darko,” it’s pretty sad to not have cared for any of the scenes Damian was involved in. Yes, the guy is trouble in a Burberry (?) coat, but is it just me or has Damian overstayed his welcome in the Upper East Side? Other than being the one who falsely accused Ben and Serena as being in a relationship, Damian’s relevance has ran its course and if he’s not staying around to get the berating he deserves then he needs to hasta la vista his ass to the nearest NYC exit ramp. ASAP!

Plus, isn’t it about time Eric is included as a regular cast member? He’s done his due diligence putting up with his family’s crap and needs to be compensated immensely for it immediately. Wonder what Damian has in store for him?

Please Bring Our Troops Home From The Senseless War That is ‘Lily Vs. The World’

The constant flip flop of Lily doing some good only to be labeled a snake two minutes later has got to stop. Last week, she tried to make amends for her mistakes and salvage Chuck’s company, but this week she gets shafted for trying to send Ben away in the name of protecting her family. Lily just can’t get a break with these kids and I applaud her for not nosediving off a balcony by now. I’m not saying Lily wasn’t in the wrong for some of her actions as of late, but come on? How much more animosity can she take?

Business + Pleasure + Best Friend’s Father = A Rancid ConcoctionGossip Girl 4.12 “Damian Darko” Review

While the Thorpes have been a welcoming addition this year so far, it still remains to be seen what their intentions are regarding Bass Industries. Will they help Chuck in the end or play him worse than Uncle Jack Bass has ever managed to do? Either way, hiring the Captain, who is fresh out of jail for embezzlement, isn’t the smartest business move in the book. Again, this is can be seen as only giving Nate something to do since he doesn’t have Vanessa or Jenny to bounce off of at the moment. Poor kid… Relevance is key in the Upper East Side.

Raina and Chuck are making out to be a good couple so far, but we know it’s only a physical fling between these two. However, feelings are bound to blossom between these two and I’m betting Raina will be the first to succumb under that pressure. She might come off as a bad-ass of sorts, but she’s up against Chuck Bass and there is just no winning against CB. Need I say more?
