George Lucas Directed Part of Solo: A Star Wars Story

By this point in time, Ron Howard and George Lucas have been friends for a long, long time. After all, the two met on the set for American Graffiti, which was made at a time when none of the people involved with the movie had made their names for real. With that said, there was an immediate connection between the two men in the fact that Howard had been accepted to the USC Film School, which was where Lucas had studied. Something that served as the foundation of a lifelong bond.

As a result, there is something special about the fact that Ron Howard was chosen to save the Star Wars spin-off centered around Han Solo, which had run into serious problems because its previous directors had taken it off-course from what the studio had planned out. In fact, the situation became so bad that it was said that the cast and crew for Solo: A Star Wars Story cheered when it was revealed that the previous directors had parted ways with the production, which is an act that spoke volumes about what had happened on the set. Regardless, Howard was the one entrusted with the responsibility of making a Star Wars movie, which was made even heavier by the troubles that had plagued its production.

Based on this, Lucas’s choice to visit Howard on the set for Solo: A Star Wars Story must have come as a welcome moment for Howard. Initially, Lucas wasn’t too involved save that he bolstered Howard’s confidence by telling him to trust his instincts as a film-maker. However, the meeting must have proven to be pleasant for both Lucas and Howard because what was supposed to have been a short stop turned into something much lengthier, as shown by the fact that the visit ended up lasting for five hours. However, what is most interesting is that Lucas made a suggestion for a scene involving Han Solo that was taken up by Howard, meaning that it is no exaggeration to say that Lucas has made a small but nonetheless noticeable contribution to the making of Solo:

With that said, it remains to be seen what Solo: A Star Wars Story will look like, which shouldn’t be that far off because it is expected to be released in May of 2018. Previously, there had been a fair amount of what can be called fretful speculation about the movie because of the lack of information about what interested individuals. However, the worst of those fears seem to have been settled for the time being upon the release of the trailer. Granted, said trailer didn’t actually reveal that much information about the content of the movie, but what was revealed was more than enough to provide plenty of fodder for discussion for Star Wars fans. As progress continues to be made, more information is bound to come out, which should enable interested individuals to get a better idea of what they can expect from Solo: A Star Wars Story before they go in to the movie theaters to see it.
