10 Things You Didn’t Know about Genevieve Gorder

Some folks do start out their lives heading in a different direction but then seem to right themselves and go down another path eventually and find what they really want to do. Then there are people like Genevieve Gorder who know what they want to do but take their time getting there and do what is necessary along the way. Her fame has built throughout her time on TV and has been created as she’s continued to push ahead and find the means to get to where she wanted to be. Her ability to present herself as something and someone that’s very opinionated and dedicated to what she wants to do in life has allowed her to become someone that is actively held up by those that have come to see her as an expert in what she does. Overall she’s kind of an impressive person that doesn’t back down from a goal once she sees it.

Here are a few things you might not have known about Genevieve.

10. In 1994 she entered an internship at MTV.

Remember that MTV was still something impressive and fun in the 90s when it was still a lot about music and could still be relied upon for entertainment and the kind of programming that was enjoyed at the time. Genevieve had the chance to work on this channel for a while when it was so cool.

9. She graduated from college with a BFA in design.

Genevieve is an educated woman that has the kind of experience and know-how that has enabled her to become one of the best in her field and it would seem that she’s taken that to heart and really pushed ahead with the skills she’s gained throughout her career.

8. At one point she was one of the original designers on TLC’s Trading Spaces.

She was one of the leading voices on the show and she did happen to be one of the more knowledgeable individuals on the cast. But at one point she decided to walk away from the show for her own reasons.

7. Her habit of working barefoot was something that gained attention.

This wasn’t done for comfort but instead because she didn’t want to mess up her shoes or anything in the homes she was working in. This seemed kind of odd and quirky but it was her own decision and not really made to be noticeable.

6. In 2018 she launched a show on Netflix.

This is different for someone that’s been on HGTV in the past, as you don’t often hear about those that have been on the network going to a big streaming giant like Netflix. But it does seem that she’s able to jump around a bit and it’s kind of cool really since she’s gone from MTV to HGTV and now to Netflix. That’s kind of impressive really.

5.  She did a short series about her own life and what it’s like to be a designer.

This was kind of an interesting six-episode bit that showed how Genevieve took on a project that was designed to give her the perspective of what it meant to be her own customer as she was designing for her own home.

4. She’s a big soccer fan.

Genevieve was a fan of soccer in school when she played a bit and has kept that love throughout her adult years. There are actually a LOT of soccer fans in America as many people might know and it’s something that fills entire stadiums with a great number of wild, screaming fans that are every bit as enthusiastic as any other fan base. One has to wonder just how much she gets into it.

3. She was responsible for the White House Christmas decorations in 2012.

This surely had to be a pinnacle of her career since to be honest not every designer has the chance to go to the White House and be in charge of designing the Christmas motif for one of the most famous locations in the entire nation. You can kind of imagine that she was a bit nervous at the prospect of this and had to take a few breaths before really taking charge and diving into the whole idea of just what she was going to do.

2. She is very adamant about oatmeal not being a color.

This is kind of funny really since it does mirror the beliefs of a lot of people since oatmeal is in fact a food and not a color, but hey, it’s a matter of an opinion and the only thing you can possibly say in an argument to counter this is the fact that there’s a lot of different oatmeals out there that have a different color and appearance.

1. Genevieve is fairly prominent on social media.

This would make sense as it would serve to keep her fans alert of how her career is going and what might be coming next.

That oatmeal factoid was just too funny.
