I’m not sure whether to laugh at this funny drug ad for adults that are ‘suffering’ from PAR*ENT*ING, or just roll my eyes until I get eye strain. You know about PAR*ENT*ING right? It’s that chronic condition in which you don’t get enough sleep, you’re constantly tired when you’re awake, you don’t feel like yourself anymore, and your life is basically run by these tiny terrorists that make constant demands on your time, your wallet, and your sanity? It tends to happen to a lot of married couples and some single parents that either make a ‘whoopsy’ or unfortunately don’t have the full support of their significant other. But first and foremost, PARENTING is something you don’t tend to get a break from all that often.
Sigh, yes it’s true.
The ‘drug’ AphukenbrakE, is about one of the best and most ridiculous things I think I’ve heard of in a while. It’s enough to make a parent laugh but it’s also something that buttercup parents, yeah that’s right, need to think twice about before taking. Every parent gets stressed out at times, it’s pretty normal since kids aren’t bound to be the obedient little automatons you want at all hours of the day. Face the facts, if you get young kids to pay attention for more than an hour out of the day then you have a rather abnormal child, in a good way thankfully. But parents do tend to get stressed trying to deal with the daily life of waking up, taking care of another little person, or persons, aside from themselves and then having to go through their day. There is no award for being a parent other than the satisfaction that your children will learn and grow up to use those lessons in a positive way. That’s something that comes later on and is hard to appreciate in those moments when you feel as though you’re standing outside your body looking in at what used to be a fun-loving person.
Kids change you. Of course they do, you don’t get to be the person that goes out after work with the guys or the girls and drink and party until the night’s gone. Once you have kids your life isn’t over, but they have to come first. AphukenbrakE is something that every parent needs now and again but it’s also something you need to be judicious with since parenting is another full time job, and one that you don’t get to shirk if your desire is to be a good mother or father. Just like a plant can’t grow without being watered and nurtured, a kid can’t grow without the necessary attention from their parents.
No one’s saying it’s easy and if they do then they’re lying and you should gladly ignore them. Parenting can be a hard, unforgiving and mind-numbing experience. But when a person gets a break every now and again to just feel like their old selves it becomes a little easier.
Just make sure someone’s watching the kids first.
