Sometimes death scenes making the funny bloopers reel too. In some cases you can’t fault the actors since the long hours they put in and the grueling schedules and number of takes can push them past their limits and then some. But in some instances the fact is that they simply wanted to ham it up a bit and kind of got off track. No matter what happens it’s usually hard for any fan to see one of their favorite characters get taken out in any way, but for the actors it can be a moment of levity that might require extra takes but does tend to break whatever tension is on the set at the time.
It all depends on whether the director has a sense of humor or not.
Inglorious Basterds
The editor of Quentin Tarantino’s films, Sally Menke was a very well-respected and loved individual around the set and people would always be leaving messages for her on film. One such message comes from the character Hugo Stieglitz after the disastrous pub scene in which only one person makes it out alive but not without injury.
Dracula: Dead and Loving It
Mel Brooks is the king of slapstick for many reasons, but one of them happens to occur in this movie. When he and fellow actor Steven Weber are about to drive a stake through a vampire’s heart Weber just barely keeps it together as a comical amount of blood comes bursting upward at him. The deluge covers him from head to toe and almost makes him crack up.
Avengers
A lot of folks took Phil Coulson’s death pretty hard in The Avengers but Cobie Smulders kind of took it the extra ten miles when she performed what amounted to a strange and kind of disturbing monologue in which she claims that Phil will be avenged.
Jaws
The death of Shaw was just gruesome and a lot of people might have thought he would live through the epic battle. But in a Jaws movie someone has to be the victim and Shaw’s number was up. The only thing is the amount of fake blood he used was something along the line of what Mel Brooks or Quentin Tarantino would use.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2
Yondu’s death was hard for a lot of people since he was favorite character of many no matter how often his allegiances seemed to shift. However, when all he had to do was lie there and let the Guardians speak over his body it became apparent just how tired Rooker really was since you can hear him snoring.
Game of Thrones
If you read the books then you knew that Jon Snow was about to get stuck repeatedly by his own men and left for dead. But if you continued onward then you know that he was eventually brought back, much to the chagrin of those that killed him and the delight of the fans. The biggest issue here was a blooper that many people took to mean that he was coming back since he winked at the camera.
Sometimes the death scenes of your favorite characters are a little more comical than you think.
