Sometimes you don’t need complex illustrations to express a feeling relatable to many people. The simplistic design of Round Comics is a great example of that, as the artist James takes the viewer from laughter to deeper reflections.
James told Bored Panda: “I started off making funny graphs and writing absurd Twitter jokes, just because I like graphs and absurd jokes. I got the occasional ‘like’, but it didn’t resonate strongly with anyone, and I realized there needed to be a human aspect to my work. That pushed me towards characters and comics. Now, when I make a comic, I hope it makes you laugh, but ideally, it will also make you feel something else as well – joy, sadness, awe, warm-and-fuzzy wholesomeness, fear. The whole spectrum of emotion. Ideally. Sometimes it’s just silly nonsense, though!”
