Fixer Upper Star Chip Gaines Shaves His Head for a Good Cause

You might not be seeing any more of Chip and Joanna Gaines after a while but at least you’ll be left with the memory that they’re willing to do more than a little to help those that are in need. In this case Chip made an open challenge to viewers and anyone that was interested that if they could donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital then Chip would get his hair cut. Since so many people seemed to have expressed the desire to see his hairdo rearranged or eliminated altogether Chip promised that the more that people gave the shorter his hair would go. Apparently more than a few people were interested in seeing his reddish mop of hair disappearing altogether, since Chip is now as bald as cue ball.

What this means however is that people were more than willing to both see his hair get cut and thus donated to St. Jude’s in a manner that allowed the Target House, an apartment-style housing facility, to continue operating and take care of the families that are staying within its walls. The Target House, which is supported by Target as the name would suggest, is a facility that families can use if they are staying in Memphis for more than three months, as a means of sticking close to their kids. As you can imagine this is a huge boon to those that don’t want to be away from their children for a prolonged period of time and require help with housing.

This gesture is something very special since it allows families to stay together and to be close by when needed for any reason. Hair is definitely a small price to pay for such a huge and heartwarming effort. The Gaines’ left Memphis with a very glad heart and have also been busy shooting their final season of  Fixer Upper. Despite being such favorite show of so many the program will not be renewing after this final season, much to the disappointment of many. There have been a few reasons given but one among them seems to be that Chip and Joanna share a desire to spend more time with their family and less on projects that can take them away for days at a time. They actually had to film for 11 months, which even for a TV show is well out of the norm.

That kind of stress can take a lot out of a person if they’re single and have no kids, so imagine what it can do to a married couple with children. This is going to be a time that they get to kick back and take care of family and business matters and decide what their next course in life might be. It’s likely that this isn’t the last time that we’ve seen them on TV, but whatever they decide to do will be made known after some time has passed in which they allow themselves to get back to basics.

Family’s got to come first after all.
