Five Things You Didn’t Know about “Sticker Shock” on Discovery

Sticker Shock is a show on the Discovery channel that’s like a few other shows but still carries its own allure and unique signature that people can appreciate when it comes to what it shows and just how enthused people will get about it. This kind of show might take a special kind of person to really get into but nearly everyone can appreciate the beauty of the antique and heavily modified and restored automobiles that are on display. The gleam, the shine, and the allure of each vehicle is more than enough to draw people in.

For some it’s a little slice of heaven.

5. The event is held in Southern California.

To be more specific it’s held in the old Firestone tire factory to allow for the kind space and venue that is needed to really display these wondrous vehicles in the manner they deserve. This way people can walk around looking at whatever they want to without having to leave the building. That’s a matter of convenience that a lot of people should be able to appreciate as they look at cars that might cost more than their house.

4. It will go into what a hot rod is defined as to many people.

A hot rod could be just about anything so long as someone is willing to put the work and modifications into it and make the car into something special. Many people have a firm idea in mind of what constitutes a hot rod but it might differ greatly from another person’s viewpoint. Where one person could say that Mustang is a hot rod, another person might say that a Camaro is a hot rod.

3. If you can imagine Antique Road Show with cars you’ll get an idea of what this show is about.

There are some truly beautiful cars on this show and just standing next to them seems like it would be a privilege. But if you can get it in your head that these things are worth more than a pretty penny then you should be able to understand just why people ask the kind of prices they do. The amount of work that goes into restoring and putting each car together is simply amazing.

2. The show is best for car buffs and people that really appreciate their construction.

Anyone can watch the show and be impressed, but car buffs and those that are serious about this kind of thing will get more out of it than anyone since they understand just what goes into each vehicle and why each and every component is so important. There are a few items within each car that can be seen as needless extravagances, but not many. A real car enthusiast won’t go cheap on anything.

1. Only a half dozen cars out of the bunch are shown on the program.

There’s only so much that can be covered in a show and despite the obvious desire to run riot and comment on all the cars that are seen as favorites the show will only focus on a handful so as to keep the time short enough and the interest deep enough so that people will enjoy what they’re seeing.

This is definitely something for the true collectors and enthusiasts.
