1. He’s married to Mariska Hargitay
For some reason, a lot of people don’t really seem to know this, despite the fact that they have been married for a while and they have never made any attempt to hide it. Furthermore, he’s typically thought of as a heartthrob, yet he has openly stated that sometimes he worries about his wife starring with attractive men because so many people see her as the ideal example of a woman.
2. He’s a native New Yorker
When Hermann was born, his parents were living in New York. Therefore, he was not only born there, but spent much of his youth there. To this day many of the projects that he works on are filmed on location in New York and he is proud that he still has those ties to the place that he calls home.
3. His parents are German
Even though he was born in New York, both of his parents emigrated from Germany. As a result, the only language that was spoken inside his home was German. This occurred up until he was about 10 years old. He is fluent in the language and is able to speak it to this day. Moreover, he still finds use of the language to be an advantage, as he is capable of carrying on conversations in more than one language and even concealing what he is saying from other people when he needs to.
4. He starred on several hit television shows that are still on the air
In addition to being a regular on Younger, he has also spent time on Blue Bloods and Law & Order: SVU. The latter just happens to be where he met his wife. It is equally interesting to know that his wife is still starring on the same show even today. This opens up the possibility that he might guest-star in a future episode as well.
5. He and his wife are the parents of adopted children
Back in 2011, they actually made the decision to adopt two children and they did so, adopting both of them within six months of each other. As it turns out, the two always wanted to have a large family and they see adoption as a perfect way to accomplish that goal. It’s nice to know that there are individuals like he and his wife who are attempting to make life better for kids that might not otherwise have any opportunities growing up. There is also a chance that they might choose to adopt more children in the future. While no one can be certain of their decision, they have already proven that they are open to the idea.
