2. He’s self-taught
After he mastered the drums, he went on to teach himself how to play the guitar when he was a teenager. Obviously, this is something that requires a great deal of discipline, not to mention having a knack for playing the guitar in the first place. Obviously, Rateliff had both in large doses.
3. He has a natural talent for writing songs
Around the same time that he decided to teach himself how to play the guitar, he also began writing his own songs. Remember, this is something that a lot of people want to do, but they never actually take the time to sit down and write a single song. He was doing it on a routine basis as a teenager. Furthermore, he continues to write his own songs today.
4. Music isn’t his only passion
When he was just 18 years old, he traveled to the Denver area for missionary work. You might consider this his other passion. The thing is, he liked the area so well that he made the decision to settle down and stay there. This is still his home today. As far as the missionary work goes, he often combines his two passions in order to create unique songs about humanity in general, as well as certain groups of individuals that are the focus of his missionary work.
