Five Things You Didn’t Know About Josh Norman

Before Dancing With The Stars, no one ever thought that we’d ever see some of our favorite celebrities in dance competitions, let alone some of our favorite athletes. In the latest season of DWTS, we’re going to have a few athletes compete for the coveted prize of being best dancer. This season, different athletes from various sports disciplines will be competing, and it’ll be interesting to see just how much competition can be brought out. The latest football player to join the ranks of competitors is Josh Norman. Here are five things you need to know about this football player before he graces your TV with his dance moves.

Cornerback

Norman plays for the Washington Redskins as cornerback. He has been with the team since 2016 coming from the Carolina Panthers. His most current contract made him the highest paid cornerback ever–$75 million for a 5-year contract. He’s surely worth the money though, being the 59th best player as ranked by his own peers in the NFL. His first season with the NFL ended just as impressively with 67 tackles, 19 defended passes, and 3 interceptions.

South Carolina

Just south of Greenville lays the birthplace of Norman. Greenwood, South Carolina is where it all began for Norman. He even attended the high school over there, where he played football. His football team won the State Championships back in 2006, which led him to be recognized as one of the select All-State football players. He had an elaborate football career in high school, Norman had no offers for scholarship to attend a university.

Big supporter

After the devastation that Hurricane Maria brought onto the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, many celebrities came forward to offer their help, whether it was money, food, water, or time. Norman was one of the many celebrities and other high-profile figures in the nation to donate a hefty amount of cash just to help ou in the relief efforts. According to ESPN, Norman reportedly donated $100k towards helping Puerto Rico during that time of crisis.

Draft pick

It might’ve been just a lapse somehow, but it was completely unexpected. Everyone thought that Norman was at least a Day 3 pick because of his amazing high school and college football careers. Yet it seemed that high school repeated itself all over as Norman didn’t get picked until round 5 of picking, making him the 143rd choice overall. This was in 2012. Norman stayed with the Panthers up until 2016. Afterwards, he became a free agent.

Natural dancer

Here comes another surprise from Norman; he’s an absolutely great dancer. He shocked everyone with his skills as he danced gracefully across the stage during the very first episode. He has since done very well for himself, letting his personality shine through every single performance. There’s a possibility that he might take the trophy home. Norman is paired up with Sharna Burgess, and the two are just a fun sight to watch when they’re both dancing on screen. Let’s see how far he can go on the show.
