Jack Antanoff is a singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born in New Jersey on March 31, 1984. He is best-known as the lead singer of the Bleachers and he is also the main songwriter for this band. In addition to his work with ‘Bleachers’, he is also known as the lead singer-songwriter of ‘Steel Train’ and as the guitarist of ‘Fun’. This talented musician even started his own annual music festival in New Jersey called ‘Shadow of the City’. Here are five more things that you probably don’t know about Jack Antonoff.

1. He Was Once in a Band Called Outline

Jack Antonoff showed musical talent from a young age and was in his first band while at high school This band was called ‘Outline’ and he formed this band with people he had been friends with since elementary school in their sophomore year at high school. They used a DIY guide to start their own tour in Texas and Florida. Antonoff has said that he fell in love with touring during this phase of his life, even though they often faced a situation where nobody showed up to watch them play.

2. He Dated Lena Dunham

After leaving the family home in 2012, Antonoff briefly lived with his sister before moving to Brooklyn Heights with actress Lena Dunham with whom he was in a relationship. The couple dated and lived together until January 2018 when they split amicably. The couple had not been seen in public together since the Grammys pre-party almost a year ago. Lena Dunham is an actress, writer, producer, and director who is best-known for creating, writing and starring in the hit HBO series ‘Girls’.

3. He has Suffered from Depression

Jack Antonoff has suffered from mental health problems and this is something he has always been open about. He has suffered from depression on and off for many years and also suffers from anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He continues to tackle these issues with medication and by regularly seeing both a therapist and psychopharmacologist.

4. He Has Collaborated as a Songwriter Many Times with Taylor Swift and Ella Yelich-O’Connor

Although he has often written songs alone, Jack Antonoff has also collaborated with many famous and successful songwriters. Two of these are Taylor Swift and Ella Yelich-O’Connor. The songs he has co-written with Taylor Swift include ‘Sweeter Than Fiction’, ‘Out of the Woods’, ‘I Wish You Would’, ‘You Are in Love’, ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’, ‘Getaway Car’, ‘Dress’, ‘This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things’, and ‘Call It What You Want’. Some of the songs Antonoff has co-written with Ella Yelich-O’Connor include ‘Green Light’, ‘Liability’, ‘Supercut’, ‘Perfect Places’, and ‘Sober’.

5. He Has Won Three Grammy Awards

In recognition of his talents, Jack Antonoff has been nominated for many awards and has won three Grammys. The first two of these he received at the 2013 awards ceremony. One was for Best New Artist for ‘Young’ and the second was for Song of the Year for ‘We Are Young’. He won his third award in 2016. This was the Album of the Year Award for ‘1989′.
