Dexter Fletcher is the kind of actor that you look at and just know you’ve seen somewhere before but you can’t place it until you happen to watch that movie or show and then say “a-ha!”. He’s shown his skills more than once throughout several projects as he’s taken on different accents and roles in order to become a kind of chameleon so far as his voice talents go. His looks are pretty distinctive and usually have to be dressed up in some manner to obscure his facial features, otherwise he’s easy enough to point out. His acting however is just as elusive as he can play a variety of different roles without that much overlap. He’s not really the leading man or even the main character in a lot of productions but he’s still a character you can’t help but notice when he comes onscreen.
Here are a few things you might not have known about him.
5. He married his wife twice.
He married her once in England and once in Lithuania, where she is from. He’s been trying to learn her language since they met. He even had two different best men in the ceremonies. Alan Rickman was his best man in England while Eric Stoltz was his best man in Lithuania. That seems like a lot to go through to please both families but if one can do it then a lot of brides would probably say yes.
4. His family has roots in show business.
His brothers are both actors and his grandmother was in show business as well. It helps to break into the business when you happen to know someone that’s been there before, and having family is an added bonus. The perks that come with such an affiliation are obviously something that shouldn’t be taken for granted and are quite valuable.
3. He was in the movie Doom.
He played the role of Pinky, the guy stuck in the wheelchair since his travel from Earth to Mars didn’t go so well and half of his body got left behind. Poor Pinky doesn’t get a lot of respect from the marines that are sent to figure out the problem on Mars, and eventually ends up becoming one of the monsters that attack the lead character when he finally has to make his way through the complex.
2. He started acting as a child.
His first role was in Bugsy Malone at age 10 and ever since that time he’s been in love with the stage, so it’s no wonder that he became an actor and eventually a director. The idea of anyone just walking away from this kind of career usually has something to do with stressors that are more than a person can take, but if he’s had any of those they haven’t deterred him as of yet.
1. As of now he does a lot more directing than acting.
He hasn’t given up the stage entirely but he does tend to sit behind the camera more often now than he did when first starting out. Those directors that begin their career in front of the camera seem just a little more in tune with themselves than some.
He’s made quite a career for himself.
