Five Things You Didn’t Know about Big Tymers

Big Tymers was a rap duo that came together in the 90’s and lasted until the mid-2000’s. They produced a few albums but never reached the kind of heights that would have kept them in the industry since competition is fierce. Their music is considered to be great for the time period in which they started but so far what’s been heard when they came back for one single hasn’t been anything special. Perhaps though it’s just a warm up to what could be on the way.

With Lil Wayne and Drake backing their sound it could be that we’ll see the duo again.

5. They were active from 1993 to 2005.

They put out five albums in that time which isn’t horrible but didn’t bump up their numbers enough to make it possible for them to hang around. By 2003 their album sales weren’t doing that great. By 2005 Mannie Fresh left Cash Money Records to sign with Def Jam Records. This left the fate of the duo in serious jeopardy since there was no telling if they’d attempt a comeback at any point.

4. They just came out with a new single.

Just last year the duo reunited for a single show that had a lot of people excited until the song started up and got going. People still enjoyed the music but the sound was far too much like their old beats and didn’t seem to produce anything new for the fans to bump to. It was more like a throwback to the earlier days of their career and more or less it wasn’t fresh enough to really call it a major hit.

3. Their first album came out in 1997.

Just because they’d been active since 1993 didn’t meant that they immediately started churning out music. They had to gain a following and then hit different venues to really get going and get people interested in them. The rap game isn’t much different from any other type of music as a person has to generate interest in a fan base in order to get anywhere and make something happen with their career.

2. Talks of bringing the group back started in 2013.

Rappers Lil Wayne and Drake have expressed interest in bringing back the sound and feel of the Big Tymers in order to revive their music and add something new to it. Mannie Fresh hasn’t really been seen to offer a comment or give the yay or nay however. At this point it looks like it would be just be Birdman making it work as they embarked on a new career that would hopefully pay off at some point.

1. There’s no word yet on if Mannie Fresh will be a part of the new venture.

Since he signed with Def Jam Records it’s never been known really if Mannie Fresh would ever get back together with Birdman but right now it looks kind of doubtful. Until the final word is given on this however there’s at least a little hope that the group might get back together and try again.

They’ve just got to work on a new sound.
