It’s regrettable but even in sports the sexualization of women tends to get a little out of control sometimes. I’ll just say it once and that’ll be it, Allison Stokke is a very attractive woman. The only issue with it, and it really has nothing to do with the way she acts, is that sports are about talent, hard work, and being the best athlete you can possibly be. It has so little to do with looking good that one could ignore all of that aspect and focus entirely on the skills of the athletes if not for the media and their intentions of hyping up the looks of the athletes. In a sense the biggest problem with any facet of sports is how the news media portrays people.
That being said, here are a few things you might not have known about Allison.
5. She was a pole vaulter in high school and in college.
Allison has been pole vaulting now for a while and is pretty good at it. She actually set a few records in high school and then went on to compete in Track and Field for the University of California, Berkeley. She broke her leg during high school but still managed to mount a comeback and continued to compete at the top level, earning a lot of praise throughout her high school and college careers.
4. She’s also a fitness model.
Allison is in great shape and is a great example of what it takes to maintain one’s health and strength as she continues to compete and keep herself in top condition. The only issue with this is that since high school she’s been pictured as something of a sex symbol and even as some photographers have attempted to get publications to accept their photos of her for their content value the many posts concerning her sex appeal have gone viral.
3. Stokke hasn’t sought the kind of attention she gets.
Allison definitely didn’t strike out to be a sex symbol and has managed to concentrate all her efforts on her sport and the conditioning she puts herself through in order to remain at the top of her game and stay in the kind of shape that she feels is necessary to maintain her current status. Give this much to her, she’s got the kind of dedication that is needed to ignore the many critics and those that would see her as little more than a pretty face. Lately though she’s lightened up about being pictured working out and in a bikini.
2. No matter what people think, pole vaulting is HARD.
She’s way more than a pretty face if you take a look at her musculature. Anyone that thinks pole vaulting is an easy activity ought to try it at least once. The upper body strength you need to have is insane, not to mention the timing, the speed, and the ability to fling yourself into the air with a pole and then over a bar without knocking it down, all while using nearly every muscle you’ve got to stay aloft. Sound easy?
1. She’s dating Pro Golfer Ricki Fowler.
Ricki Fowler is a Pro Golfer that has his share of championships as well and has been dating Allison for a little while now. The two look very happy and are seen together quite often. They seem like a nice couple.
